Probably the most important page for me as a mod user is the tracking centre. I don't use NMM/MO/Vortex/whatever, so it's how I keep track of the mods I'm using.

People have already covered what is good/bad about mod pages (the second most important page for me), and the browser addon linked on page 78 fixes a lot of the issues, so I'll just concur with the general theme of 'big images and lots of scrolling = bad'.

Good:

-'Updated'. The little blue indication stands out and makes it easier to see what's been updated since I last downloaded.

- I can stop tracking a mod without having to go into the 'Manage Tracked Files' section or going to the mod page.

Bad:

- Instead of seeing 18 mods without scrolling, I see 8.

- I remember mods by their names. The tiny thumbnails are unnecessary. Most of the time the thumbnails rarely have anything to do with the mod anyway.

- I only view tracked mods from the game site I'm on. The game name is unnecessary when you're on the site for that game. The column for it is also horizontally static - large game names (like SSE) just add more rows. With the space above/below the text, it makes each one take up 3x more rows than needed.

- The 'log' seems to link to the Activity log. Thus, it's just a huge list of who has endorsed, which doesn't matter in the slightest, with sporadic changes to the actual mod. Better would be for it to link to the Action Log (as it currently does) or Change Log (if the author utilises it).

- The giant 'Tracking Centre' title is pointless. I know where I am. It even says directly above it. This just wastes space.

Neutral:

- I don't really care about the author's name. I track the mod because I'm interested in it. I suppose it might be a useful way to easily kudos (or donate) the author.

- I don't care about the category. Not quite sure why this was added. To quickly go to the category itself and view other mods in the same category?

Also, for those that are going to whine at me for not liking extra scrolling; all I want is the same functionality and efficiency as the current site. I am not saying scrap the entire thing; I'm pointing out things that maybe should be reconsidered at some point and improved or given alternate options for. These extra-large tiles/text boxes/images are not something that has nor will ever appeal to me. I've maybe used my phone for viewing the Nexus/the internet in general a couple of times in the past year (since I got the phone, after half a decade without one); primarily I use PC for everything internet-related, thus big-everything's aren't needed. I'm not blind, nor am I using a tiny 5inch screen.

Here is an example of what I would like the Tracking Centre to look like, at least as an option. I used uBlock to remove pretty much everything that I class as 'bad' or 'neutral'. By removing all of it, I get the functionality and efficiency of the old site (including going from 8 back to 18 mods visible without scrolling), with the new site's skin, and the two 'good' things that I do like.

calscks wrote: i think it really depends on personal preferences -- for instance your don't likes, don't cares and how you remember things as well, no? but i do have a suggestion for a *rather* win-win situation such as having an option to hide thumbnails in the tracking centre. but i could at least agree with the logs because i did expect it to show changelogs and is pretty disappointed.
Battlestar1965 wrote: I just had to see the "Logs" for myself, because i couldn't believe it..... How stupid can one be to link to the "Activity Logs" and not to the "Change Logs". Unbelievable... In addition i agree with all the points Jeir made. I like the picture of the "improved" tracking center. Need to learn to use uBlock ......

I'm a visual thinker, so I like that there's images everywhere now. That's was one of my larger issues with the old site, pages that listed mods without images I never used because they just weren't helpful to me without images. Not saying either is wrong/right or better, I just see a lot of comments against the images and wanted so say there's at least one person who likes the images.

This might be a dick question, but what would be wrong with the images, mod author, and category staying and you continuing the use that uBlock browser addon to mod how the site looks? When you use something like greasemonkey to change what a site looks like, you can't really make db calls to pull up the info, but you can easily remove it with css and js. Edited by demonofsarila

Just for your information:

I have updated my "Media" (headers and thumbnails) and they look fine now.

It also seems to be an easier task than before - like more menus to reach.

As I now feel like home again I am a bit sorry for my earlier comments. I simply felt overrun and I don't like to be overrun.

Looking forward to the final release and wish all of you hardworking staff members out there good luck.

It took me 20 minutes to find my tracked mods, and than I had to filter them by game even though i was already in FO4 selection.

This is not a progress but a stepback
Ethreon wrote: Took you 20 minutes to find the tracking center which is accessible immediately as you load the website from a drop down menu similar to the one from the old layout? Took you 20 minutes to find this?? http://prntscr.com/h64mdu
And the other statement is equally bs. They are already arranged by game if you have any selected.

what can i say. Im used to old design.
Also, i did not not know there are drop downs, and if oyu do not know the "tracking center" is at the bottom of the page, not on your site profile anymore.

Another this isif you do n ot have a filter selected it show all games, previously it already filter to the forums game, so my comments stands.

Not everyone has to enjoy the redesign, clearly you do but I dont

PS: not like my or anyone else complains matter, they will go with it anyway no matter how many against voices there will be Edited by ri2do

Please keep the old look for those who want to. dont know if that is technically possible, but i dont know where to start to say what i hate about the new design. I have a hard time finding the stuff i am looking for. It looks so "mobile-like". And it looks so.... wah i can not pinpoint it. I hate it.
Maybe it is just a thing of getting used to it. But honestly i dont want to spend time getting used to it. I have tried for about six hours now and with every hour more i hate it more.
I know that is no criticsm that would help you. I dont want to help with this new design. I hate it.
I want to keep the old one.
Please.

I personally will be clutching onto the old design until the moment it dies because I really am not a fan of this new one. And it's not about me clinging onto the old one because I hate changes or something, I welcome changes when I think they're an improvement, but this is honestly not an improvement in my eyes. It's simply the fact that the compact look of the old design was traded for this plain ugly "modern" design which involves big images and fonts, too much scrolling down, too much eye-movement along with information being scattered all over the place. What's up with all the depressing colors of dark gray, light gray and occasionally white ? Did someone run out of color when designing this place ? Is the "modern" design too afraid of colors ? Am I in 50 Shades Of Gray ?

And then there's other things, some of which I mentioned in the forum post.

My honest opinion is that this is a downgrade rather than an upgrade, because of reasons I stated in the forum post. Such a shame that this is now turning into Bethesda.net 2.0 design... only more uglier and effort requiring.

If anything should have been changed, then it was the forums section because it felt so disconnected from the main site in terms of designs and bringing it up to the Nexus design would have been amazing.

I will remain on the old design until hopefully some changes are made to the new design that make it at least somewhat visually pleasing and convenient.

I said it once and I'll say it again. Old design was compact, displayed important information when required, was easier to navigate and much more viewable.

The new design is too big, too flashy with images and fonts. Absolutely no colors. Information is scattered all over the place. A lot of scrolling and looking around. The biggest sin of all however is that it forces the user to SEARCH for IMPORTANT information, instead of handing the important information to them. Just look at the mod pages for example and see the first 5 lines when you open a mod page.

This new design would be a great design for a phone, not a PC.

Just my opinion.

I find myself agreeing with Crimsomrider. The new site is a step backwards.
