Mortum Brown met ProfWho who now openly spoke of herself as a Timeguardian; with her were her Timedroids and close to them was the blue police box of the ProfTARDIS.

Mortum looked to the TARDIS. "Why does it always have that appearance?"

She sighed. "The sweet old girl was supposed to be retired a very long time ago but it was fixed up hastily and given over to my service by the Timemasters. By then their attempted conquest of my home universe was turning sour on my people. Shortly after that I joined the Timerebels. ProfTARDIS was never involved in battling those monstrous RazorTARDISes because she could never have won even against one of the Class/Cs, the smallest and weakest of the RazorTARDISes. Stolen RazorTARDISes did that until all of them were destroyed by the Timemasters during truly savage battles."

Then she smiled. "I have excellent news. The revenge madness has ended in my home universe. Many more were saved than I had feared. The daleks, splinterclones and cybermen of my universe helped save at least half of them, pointing out that Timerebels had deal major blows against the Timemasters and that most Timefolk were oppressed by the Timemasters. Timemasters are imprisoned now in QuasiTARDISes and partly guarded over by former Timerebels now known as Timeguardians; they added me to their ranks."

Mortum nodded. "Excellent!"

He looked around at the great chamber that they were in that had held the 25 statuscapsules of the 25 clone-daughters of Professor Brown who had already adopted them for better, neutral or worse. All of that was now in the Wanderer's Wanderbase along with much else including a transformed Tangleit who now ran a snack bar in the central markets of a thriving settlement.

The machinery, serving-supporting, the statuscapsules, had been concealing metallic powerdoors. One led to a hallway and another to a chamber with an elevator. They had decided to head together along the hallway. This is what they did. They were soon faced by a vertical wheeldoor that was half open. Blocking it was the massive skeletal remains of a tentacle.

Beyond that, after carefully going over what seemed like a great version of a Shadomass tentacle, they found themselves in a very large chamber. The monstrous creature, code named Jabberwocky from Lewis Carol's poem, was a massive long dead thing. It was very very hard to describe being a great, vaguely skull like, sphere with a mass of huge tentacles going out from the lower part of that even more massive central structure. Tentacles sprouted from bigger tentacles that sprouted from bigger tentacles and so forth. It had smashed machinery, desiccated corpses, robots, much else up against the walls. How it had arisen was a mystery until the two Professors worked out that an elaborate transdimensional gate had stood there through which something very brutal, and nasty, had come.

What had killed it was pathetically simple; the creature had destroyed its own way of going back to where it had come from while becoming trapped in that chamber; it had starved to death once all lifeforms there had fallen to its hunger. Whether it had wanted to come through the gateway, or not, was a mystery left to be solved along with many other related ones.

Sarah Lyon's group viewed the moderately sized sphere shaped transport, an ugly-beautiful combination very hard to describe as parts of it somehow contradicted others. It was the focus of the OldEarth Reentry Program, the name being deliberately misleading for this was an attempt to back engineer captured alien tech to built a teleportation transport. One possibility, of its use, had been predicted to be to go to the OldEarth that was buried deeply inside the NewEarth.

A test run may have gone well but the first one, with human volunteers, had not done so. Sticking out from it were half bodies of special power armoured crew members. The 21 victim volunteers had died with merciful quickness. Except that when the teleportation vehicle had returned from its first manned test run, it had brought something with it. That creature was now only bizarre skeletal remains partly melded into the hull of the teleportation globe, which had been the very imaginative name for the machine.

Sarah Lyons sounded angry. "That creature would have caused much death-destruction if it had lived, had escaped, into this dimensional realm. I will not name it or speak of it further. So now we have the OldEarth Reentry Program explored, I say we go find what we can with the Solar Probe 777 Program which probably had nothing to do with anything like the design of a solar probe."

The Solar Probe 777 Program was nothing to with the creation of such a probe but with the investigation of an ancient, ultra secret, experimental transdimensional probe launched from the OldEarth. The probe was an elongated pyramidic shaped tipped with a sphere. Strange burn marks scarred it at places. One of its spikes, jutting out of the sphere, was bent crazily.

The solar probe was in a special cradle inside a heavy armoured, transparent, cube that was reinforced by force fields. Inside it something flickered crazily, back and forth, in pain and agitation. Sarah carefully reached out to it, made mindwise contact, and then the entity became calmly still.

Sarah's fingers flew over a control panel. She had done previous reconfiguring of software while her people had helped in varied ways including the shifting of cables and their disconnecting and reconnecting to other ports. Exotic mechanisms had been moved.

Sarah received information from the neoliving energy being from what it had sensed was going on, with the NewEarth, since it had arrived. Part of its agitation was caused by what it had come to know and its increased desire to return to its home dimensional realm because of it. The Knight Sentinel pressed a switch and it vanished with a soft sparkling shimmering. The trapped entity had gone home.

Sarah spoke. "The Ultimate Enemy is the twisted, deformed, population of lifeforms left on the OldEarth where a great transdimensional experiment went devastatingly wrong. Sleepers #7, #8 and #9 were related to the ultratech of the Transdimensional New Hope Program of Projects. Sleepership #1 was somehow drawn, through timespace, to the moment of that great transdimensional catastrophe. It crash landed, in a surprisingly soft manner, into the Pacific Ocean. Those in it, and the great vessel itself, became part of the Ultimate Enemy along with all life on the OldEarth and the very OldEarth itself. The whole OldEarth is the 'shell' of the Ultimate Enemy. To make matters even more interesting, the Great Balancing has become a trapped extra aspect of the Ultimate Enemy."

The GrandMall returned to its typical level of violence as did much of the world except for those areas that had never stopping being so. Factions seemed keen to settle in to doing enough only to keep surviving for the moment. The EagleEnclaven, and Packraiders did not return, at least for those months. The Wanderer, and allies, attempted to learn more about the Ultimate Enemy and its origins.

Priorities were changed and some new ones added even as some old ones became meaningless.

The Great Balancing had to be rescued from the control of the Ultimate Enemy!?

Sleepership #7 materialised just out from NewJupiter's Moon Belt quite unlike the belt surrounding OldJupiter. SolFed ships surrounded it but made no attempt to do anything other than that. Stoner, as an aspect of the Wanderer, was soon on the scene.

What of Sleepership #9?

The two professors, beneath Megaton, were still busy as was MadMax along with Sarah Lyons in the Museum of Technology. New challenges were arising while others were becoming more apparent through the gaining of information.

The Ultimate Enemy had to be dealt with!

Life went on!

The situation appeared to be clarified greatly. The Ultimate Enemy was made up of life abandoned on the OldEarth, by those of Sleepership/1 and by the Great Balancing that was drawn into it. The Great Enemy had returned to be inside the Sun with the Great Friend and the Great Neutral. Once the Great Balancing returned to NewSol transdimensional realm then there would be improvement as the Ultimate Enemy would be damaged.

DocWho was looking at the scenario as presented with a 3Dwallscreeen. Then he spoke. "What if we are wrong, if this story is wrong? What if the Ultimate Enemy is not our true enemy but only the enemy of the NewSol entities?"

Suzanne frowned softly. "If that is the case then helping to free the Great Balancing would be a mistake."

DocWho: "We need more information."

DocTARDISmind: "Doctor, you-I are aspects of the Wanderer but what is the Wanderer? Perhaps there is a special link between the Wanderer and all of the other entities including AlphaOmega? Perhaps we have all come to be here, in this quarantined pocket realm, for a very good reason? At the DocTARDIScore lies a great concealed zone that even I can not penetrate. Yet, I can only remember it now as if formerly it was blocked inside my memory banks, that Lasanna has entered that zone over 100 times."

DocWho frowned. "What is Lasanna now?"

DocTARDISmind: "She, and her five Timeclones, have gone into that sealed off zone."

Suzanne's grandfather responded. "This needs to be investigated. I will go there at once taking my own Timeclones with me but also some other assistance."

Suzanne frowned. "Perhaps I should come with you?"

DocWho smiled at his granddaughter. "Thank you, Suzanne, but you are needed her in DocTARDIScontrol!"

DocWho stepped into the zone by going through a shimmering barrier of energies both very exotic and made up of a wide range of extremely advanced technologies.

A strange, lightly disturbing, sensation through him mind-body-spirit. Then the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth returned fully to him as it did to all twelve other aspects of the Wanderer.

The greater celestial entities, who had created the quarantine reality, had requested the Wanderer to investigate the real situation while deliberately burying deep the core of truth that it had already known. This was done to stop the real Ultimate Enemy from sensing what the Wanderer really was and what its real purpose was in being there.

The Wanderer was a celestial bounty-slayer and detective, a trouble shooter and deep mystery researcher and yet it was also more than that when linked up with 'sibling entities'.

The so called Ultimate Enemy inside the NewEarth was a very dangerous entity but was a creation of the real Ultimate Enemy. That one was partly inside NewSol as the Great Neuter, Great Friend, Great Enemy but also the Great Manipulator. The Great Balances was not even truly an aspect of the Ultimate Enemy but belonged to the one falsely stated as being the Ultimate Enemy that was the Exploiter.

Suzanne had served the Exploiter after being absorbed by an ultradoppelganger and though she was now positively integrated with that ultradoppelganger it was too risky for her to be directly involved in what was coming.

The same was true for Charon, now a rhoulman, and others who the Wanderer had detected and transformed.

The Exploiter had escaped from the controls of the Ultimate Enemy and had been falsely named, by the true Ultimate Enemy, as itself. The trouble was that the real Ultimate Enemy had expended part of itself into the Exploiter so as to both make it strong and very controllable. What it had not foreseen, through its own arrogance and blindness, was that it fed into the Exploiter a large part of its own insane chaotic selfish nature. The Exploiter had thus sought to be free of any control just as the Ultimate Enemy would have done in its position.

Lasanna spoke to him. "It is ready!"

They moved from along the corridor that he had first entered through the energy barrier until they got to a truly vast domechamber at the center of which was a massive mechanism of mixed-merged metals, crystal and strange organic components. Celestial entities of the Engineer, a sibling to the Wanderer, tended it.

Uncle Leo materialised as did MadMax, Mortum, Jasmine, Blastmiser, Rainbotaze, JackOman, Krakratus, Stoner, Tannin and Sambristas. Of course DocTARDISmind was already there as was DocWho.

DocWho walked up to the big console that had one big red button and after taking of the special locking mechanism, and having DocTARDISmind deactivating other safeguards he paused. The Engineer entities withdrew away from the mechanism to a safe distance and behind force barriers.

Then DocWho pressed the big red button and then the mechanism began to throb, to jet showers of energies, to make strange disturbing noises. Then it began to vibrate.

Everybody, wisely enough, then left the chamber and sealed it up behind themselves.

The Exploiter screamed as it was sundered totally from the Ultimate Enemy that was still fractured from when the Exploiter had broken away from its control. The OldEarth shook and Sleepership #1 became itself along with all those on it. The remnants of that Ultimate Enemy, that had began as a multitude of lost souls of the OldEarth, burned away inside NewSol that returned to being OldSol as the transdimensional realm melted away.

The Exploiter had been holding the Great Enemy as a kind of hostage against the Ultimate Enemy, trying to control it but also feeding off it to make itself stronger against the Ultimate Enemy except that the Ultimate Enemy began to feed off the Exploiter instead.

The Wanderer could not strike, as planned, until the Great Enemy was freed and a true splintering had taken place between the Ultimate Enemy and its creation.

The Ultimate Enemy was weakened by its no longer being able to feed upon the Exploiter and the Exploiter was already weakened by the stopping of its feeding off of the Ultimate Enemy. The project had to be completed and then it was done.

The big red button was pressed!

Then the Ultimate Enemy was gone just a few seconds after the Exploiter was, both being erased from existence except for a great scattering of aspects of their former selves.

Except that, in a real sense, the Ultimate Enemy and the Exploiter had always been the same entity splintered in half by its own ancient celestial insanity.

Billions of souls became freed to return to their original paths of spiritual transmigration, starting again with new births in new domains.

The Wastelands were much the same but cleaner and the rains that came were less rad-toxic as were the rivers. There was more greenery, more life in general, and the semiruins were generally less ruined with more resources to offer to both people and wildlife. The Wastewaters were also cleaner, healthier, with much more life in them. Areas of the Greenlands were bigger and domes were repaired. Yet the majority of Wastelanders did not even know that these changes had taken place along with others.

They certainly did not know about the demise of the Ultimate Enemy created by a cascade of unresolved mistakes, and crimes, across billions of years. Except a few had witnessed a brief flash with the sun and others had heard, very briefly, a disturbing screaming sound.

All of the doppelfolk ended up in their home dimensional realm as did the Tazefolk. The Rainbotaze, of the Wanderer, became the Lifetaze able to take many living shapeforms. Having begun working on-in that world, the Wanderer continued to do so. The Wonder5 became the Wonder13 and then there were the other such entities. Work was not completed, far from it!

The Phalliclord, of the EagleEnclavers, had to be dealt with along with the rest of the 13 Grandlords, as they had come to call themselves including the Antagonizer, the Mechanist, the Mutantlord and the Clawsiner.

There were the Packraiders, along with more general raiders, to deal with.

From the south came a new military threat thinly disguised as a democracy.

Zetans seemed to becoming more active.

Yet the DCBoS had somehow expanded in size, power and influence as had the Orderhood while the Followers of the Apocalypse opened up outposts along with the Gaiafollowers.

The Children of Atom found themselves facing competition in the form of the more aggressive Followers of Atom but that was the very reason most supported the CoA over the FoA.

Project Purity was still a must in DC with the desire to further cleanse water, land and air.

DocWho's people remained except for brief visits to Gallifrey or other places. There were still the criminal rogue Timelords to do with.

Life went on in the Wastelands but it was, generally, less of a struggle.
