I second that. The community is flush with burned out or disheartened talented modders...hopefully this will bring them back, or at least create new ones.

Speed doesn't equal quality though, and bad ports ARE a thing. Wouldn't a "first come first serve" promote haphazardly done ports?
Then again that point is relatively moot, since its not just speed and quantity, but popularity. In the end the better ones will get more unique downloads. Edited by Edsh0t

That's the way to do it. The Money, or Points are not to be the goal, never. Simply an incentive. A lil material way to show how much the user community appreciates its modders.

No, the dull hard truth is that many mod authors are very poor and need this money to survive. By survival I don't mean trips to warm islands for summer vacations, but rent, health and food.

humm.. I've kinda made a clothing mod for one body replacer, and then later a separate mod that just patches the first mod for a different body replacer.. I kinda always do that with my files because i'm slow at making anything, and prefer just setting up a new mod than updating an old one, that i'm not sure people would notice '~' should i opt out of this point system because of my habit?

Unfortunately, as has always been the case, nothing in this world is free. Everything comes at a price and time is the most valuable thing in life; but as Etheron put it, people always care about what's theirs, it's how we are at the end of it all. I don't make things necessarily for others, I make things for me and because I find enjoyment in the creation of certain things (stories, videos etc.). I just happen to share that with others because I care little for egocentrism, vanity and to some extent selfishness. Maybe I share things to get something such as recognition or some other form of reward. People say they look for things other than money, well rewards don't have to be materialistic and it's looking for a reward nonetheless.

Use categorys for Skyrim. Different contest for each major tag..... Overhauls, Home and abode mods, the follower mods, armor and weapon mods and whatever else. That might help give better exposure to all the mods, especially to those mod authors who have mods so good but so underated due to a waifu maker putting up boobs on the front page. Perhaps just have a contest for Skyrim follower mods and one for the rest of the Skyrim mods. I love the follower mods but I know some great mods got shuffled under too quickly because of boobs. I don't know about Skyrim SE, Fallout stuff. Couple of ideas anyway....

And bam, you introduced a human element from which only issues emerge. Better let this to straight numbers rather than someone deciding what's worth and what isn't.

This is not some capitalistic society view. We'll always use our skills to get a better living, and the reward for such a life is not always material. Some people need recognision from their peers and publishing mods makes them feel better. We always valued our properties and had issues sharing, it's not some new age stuff. Old times were no better either.
