TheBrokenG0d
So i recently installed vortex on my WIndows 10 Insider build machine (Build 17107). When I start Vortex the splashscreen will appear and then goes away, I can see vortex in the bottem right in the icon area but the only options I get are (start game) which does nothing and quit. I have tried different compatibility and running as admin and nothing seems to work. I used the standard installer.

Tannin42
The most likely reason is that Vortex is opening on a different screen. Is it possible you have multiple screens set up but don't have a monitor connected for one of them? A possible solution:- First, close vortex- Then open a command line (cmd.exe)- type cd "c:\Program Files\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex\"- type vortex --get settings.windowThis should display settings Vortex has stored related to window size and position. If this displays nothing, the problem is something else, don't continue. If you see something wrong (e.g. an x-position than is higher than the pixel width of your screen or an y position > height) you can fix it with these commands: vortex --set settings.window.maximized=false vortex --set settings.window.position.x=0 vortex --set settings.window.position.y=0Please be careful to not mistype anything or you may damage your vortex configuration Now what these commands do is make vortex windowed and place it at the top left of your entire screen area (all monitors combined). Now if you have a screen configured to be the left-most that has no monitor connected then you may have to adjust the x position to be the horizontal resolution of the missing screen.Same for the y position if the missing screen is the top-most. TheBrokenG0d
The most likely reason is that Vortex is opening on a different screen. Is it possible you have multiple screens set up but don't have a monitor connected for one of them? So I tried your commands. I got settings.window.position.x = 0 settings.window.position.y = 31 settings.window.size.height = 819 settings.window.size.width = 1523Running your first command got me an error "Key not found in database [settings###window###maximized] " The other two said changed. Now I have already disabled my other monitors via display settings and it still doesn't appear on my main screen could you advise on what else could be wrong? Thank you for the help
Dark0ne
Can you use the keyboard command for moving apps between screens? Windows key + shift + left/right arrow
TheBrokenG0d
I have tried the keyboard command and it does nothing. Vortex appears to not even display in app form. It does appear as a background process in Task Manager and at some points is taking 38% of CPU usage, so it is doing or trying to do something. Vortex does work correctly on my other dual screen PC just not my main rig. I will also try it in safe mode and come back with the results. TheBrokenG0d
Safe Mode, The window will come up the first time I fire up Vortex, I have to use keyboard shortcuts to get it on screen but it works but if I close and re-open it, it acts like it does in non-safe mode. JasonHears
I came here because I was having this issue. I was attempting to resize the window by dragging from the top of the window down. As I dragged down, the whole window disappeared. Could never get it to re-appear. I tried uninstall/reinstall, and no dice. Still didn't show the window. Finally, I found the folder in C:\Users\Jason\AppData\Roaming\vortex. I uninstalled and then deleted that folder. Reinstalled. The window is back! Luckily for me, I hadn't installed anything yet, so deleting everything wasn't a big concern. Obviously, if you've used Vortex to mod you games, this probably isn't the road you want to go down. Wish I'd found this thread before killing everything, so I could see what my window settings were. But I'm not looking to try to reproduce the bug. ;)
Kongolan
For me it even happened without dual monitor, i only have one and it doesn't show either on the latest master build.
Grestorn
If you have an icon in task bar, you can use keyboard controls to move the window into the visible area. There should be guides explaining the necessaty steps in the net, if you don‘t find anything I could explain the procedure as well.
