AugustaCalidia
so, after just reinstalling everything and making sure that all mods are deleted, the game runs fine. So it must be something about the mods I have or their load order that the game doesn't like or something. The strange thing is, they are the exact same mods that I used with NMM and the game worked fine then. Good news that you're game is working! May I suggest that now you install and test your mods one at a time until you determine what mod is the problem. otakulord
Following a Scorched Earth approach, I have completely uninstalled the game, deleted the residual directories and tried to get SKSE to work. I get the same result every time. After following the instructions from the previous page in this topic, I am a little closer to getting SKSE to work. However, I have hit a new snag. From the dashboard, I am able to see Skyrim Script Extender. I made it the primary. When I click on it to lauch, I receive a message stating: Failed to run tool. Clicking on MORE only tells me: The executable doesn't exist, please check the configuration for info tool. My mod staging folder is located at "E:\games\Skyrim SE" while my game folder is under the steamapps\common folder. I have checked that the EXE is in the root folder under steamapp/common/Skyrim Special Edition and is selected as the executable. 1. Unzip the SKSE archive somewhere outside of the Skyrim game folder. 2. Manually place the two .dll's and the .exe into the Skyrim game folder where you find TESV.exe and SkyrimLauncher.exe. 3. In the unzipped SKSE archive there is a Data folder. Take the Data folder, which contains the Scripts folder, and zip it up. You've now created a mod. Give the mod a name that clearly identifies it, e.g., SKSE Scripts. 4. Drag and drop the new mod into the Vortex Drop File(s) box at the bottom of the Skyrim mods page. 5. When the mod appears in your mods list, install, enable, and deploy it. All of your SKSE elements should now be where they belong. The Scripts folder will be located in the Skyrim game data folder, and the two .dll's and the .exe will be located in the Skyrim game folder. You can test this by clicking on "skse_loader.exe" to see if it will launch your game. Once you've verified the SKSE installation, you can set up SKSE as a tool on the Vortex dashboard. Your "Target" will be "skse_loader.exe" in the Skyrim game folder. Your "Start in" will be the Skyrim game folder. You'll probably want to set the tool to "Primary." 1. To my desktop.2. placed in SteamApps/Common/Skyrim Special Edition (where SkyrimSE.exe is located)3. The Data folder was zipped into a folder named sksescripts.exe. 4. Dropped as instructed.5. Enabled and deployed. Clicking skyrim64_loader.exe runs the game successfully. Trying to run it from the dashboard fails as described above. otakulord
I believe that I have resolved my final issue. I removed the existing SKSE tool from the dashboard and recreated it. Once I did that, the game will launch.
danferos
Hey âHi Guys, âHas anyone has the same problem ? Suddenly, I cannot launch my game vis SKSE from Vortex but I am able to launch it when clicking on the icon located in my desktop ... any idea please ? âI have not changed at all the folder destination, nor touching anything in the window where you setup that application in Vortex ... simply, is not launching ! âAlso checked the SKSE website and the version continued to be the same I am using, so I am out of ideas, please help ! ThanksHey ! I just came across this post after i ran into the same problem my self. If you are still looking for a fix, go the the skse_loader in your skyrim directory and uncheck the run as administrator option in the compatibility tab on properties. rmm200
Be aware that the usual cause is a bad path in the Vortex dashboard shortcut for SKSE.It has to point to the game directory; not the mod directory. After that is correct - feel free to try other solutions. PHKDL
I am able to launch from Vortex with no plugins except for the USSEP. I tried everything in this thread, but whenever I add a mod as a plugin, I did The Paarthunax Dilemma Special Edition, it will not launch. Will someone be able to help? Skyrim SE splash screen never comes up? Save will not load? You can't create a new game?Tell us what is going on. And try stopping Vortex, go to the game directory, and run SKSE64_launcher. What happens?

What happens? I am on the most recent version of Vortex, I downloaded it yesterday. I am trying to mod Skyrim SE. I do not know what happened, but suddenly it showed that The Paarthunax Dilemma had compatibility issues. It did not show that last night, but it showed for these two other mods that I since got rid of and used the SE versions of them. The Paarthunax Dilemma was apparently the problem, even deselecting it did not change anything yesterday. I would only get the splash page if Steam was closed before I launched from Vortex, otherwise it would be the loading icon and then nothing. Thank you! If Steam is not running when you launch the game, Steam starts and shows it's options, play, or exit. Select play and the game is launched ignoring SKSE.So you are saying the game fails to launch if SKSE is actually used. That should be a bad SKSE plugin. Try renaming the Data/SKSE/Plugins directory to something else. Can you start the game now using SKSE64_loader?

It sounds like you've got Random Skyrim LE and Skyrim SE mods installed together. They're not interchangeable like that
