Pagafyr, thanks! Took a fair amount of effort, and fiddling around, to get the final effect. I have a big screen saver with many images inside the same terminal type frame work.

Opening the door to the left of the refrigerator led me to a hallway!

The hallway opened inside a great chamber that was a giant bathtub, but way up on the ledge. A giant naked lady was having a bath and I stood watching her mostly sunken beneath the sudsy waters.

A short trip along the great bathtub ledge took me to another door even as the giant woman sang a sweet melody all about horse radishes, television soap operas and ancient heroic goddesses.

The other door was an elevator that took me straight upwards for an amazing 2,000 levels so fast I became flattened to the floor. It took some minutes to unflatten myself.

The elevator door opened into a vast arena where thousands of plastic toy gladiators fought each other with wooden toothpicks and did each other no real harm at all.

It was there I met Patrick O'Mule, of the Other Ireland, and we exchanged wisdoms about how best to tickle a turtle's tummy, to make grape eel soup just right so that it tingles the tongue, and how to reset to troubled toggling of an atomic motor in a super atomic motorcar.

Patrick O'Mule used to work with super atomic motorcars until he mistoggled an atomic motor and, well, things went wrong.

I returned to the room of the refrigerator, via the floating city called Floating City, the refrigerator being in the lounge room. What had I learned. Well some information, some misinformation and that perhaps the refrigerator would be best placed in the kitchen.

I will be delaying writing any new excerpts for DC Torchwood until I go through it and strengthen my plot direction with the story because it has become 'lost'. I hope to be writing new excerpts ASAP.

First is posted the last excerpt of Not This Earth and then the next excerpt.

Not This Earth

One 16.1[20]

Lucky Eddie met Lucy, Wendy and Kerry and found that he liked them at once, to his surprise. The triplets discovered the same effect, to their surprise. None of them suspected that there might be some kind of outside, subtle, influence effecting them but there was.

They had sex! They prepared in various ways for trouble!

They departed to the streets and to a car that the triplets had been using. On the outside it seemed to be a typical lower cost luxury sedan but it hid many tricky tricks such as armour plating, multiple sensors, special alarm links, weapons, four wheel drive and others.

Not much after they departed the hotel, military forces entered the city proper, coming in from bases on the outskirts of the city. Armoured vehicles roared along streets, and even freeways, on wheels or tracks while others moved more quietly as advanced hovercraft. They passed a convoy of military reserve soldiers in older type machines being deployed to the Fremantle Docklands that fringed the very large, deep, Fremantle Harbour. The muffled noises of shooting, explosions and sirens came to them from various directions.

The supercity of Perth was at war!

Not This Earth

One 17.1[21]

The battle was a scattered affair focused on outbreak points. It was soon apparent that the outbreak was too regular to be anything but organised. Lucky Eddie, and the triplets, headed along streets in a covert tricks car, that is a normal looking vehicle that was not. They were seeking the vampire, in largely deserted areas except for shambling groups of undead. They shot down the zombies with guns that popped out of the front of the machine only to go hidden again when the creatures were dead. They had put the machine into quiet stealth mode, its greyness blending into dimly lit areas.

Lucky Eddie was always known to have a strong psychic potential. He had gained special training as had Lucy, Wendy and Kerry. Yet they were careful in trying to track down the vampire with such means for the stronger undead had their own twisted version of psychic ability. Through an area of better quality terrace houses, dotted with shops, they passed scenes of hurried evacuation and guarded emergency centres where folks were protected by armed folks.

Trouble was the zombies, and fewer ghouls, were drawn to such places where there were many lifeforms. The lesser undead had greater trouble detecting small groups or individuals but a vampire were better at such.

In a cul-de-sac, of a circuit street, they defended themselves with the roof turret gun, front and rear guns blazing away while they fired their own guns from cleverly designed armoured window gun ports. Zombies came fast shambling at them, sometimes clutching things as crude weapons, and were mown down.

Unfortunately undead numbers had increased, from recent victims, but those new undead lacked the strengthening developments of older ones and many were failing, were collapsing. There was also another important supportive element missing for them.

They came to a safe house where they found other agents and new plans were soon being formed.

Not This Earth

One 18.1[22]

Eddie was more used to working alone, or in small teams, than with many others but he was quick to get into tune with what was happening. There were operatives, of many kinds, in the big chamber. Some were covert cyborgs. A few were so called tame growlers. There were a few professional slayers, hunter-seekers and hunter-killers along with assassins such as Eddie himself. There was a handful of exotics such as psychic-spiritual, psychic-psionic and physical-psionic gifted. Two damphirs were there, representing their kind but not just damphirs of the unlifen. There were SWAT Troopers along with SAS Special Forces Soldiers plus an odd assortment of others.

Information was studied and a large map was spread out over a big table, to be dotted by small flags and other markers. Surprisingly large areas of the city had been sealed off before the undead could reach them and some had never been touched by the antinatural creatures. The undead could not swim, drowned if they tried to and salt water was especially destructive to them. Fremantle Harbour, the largest of three big supercity harbours, was the scene of a battle where zombies, and ghouls, had been driven back into the ocean and thus destroyed.

Data indicated unlifen nombies were active in some areas, being protected mostly from angry gun happy humans. Nombies, unlifen versions of zombies, were defensive aggressive at most with only some exceptions of passivity or aggression.

Eddie noted that a few humans had proven to have immunity of some kind. There were non carrier Alphas, like himself and the triplets, Beta carriers, Gamma carriers who became undead if ever killed by something other than the U-Infestation, Deltas who became living monsters and Epsilons who gained strange powers but who often became criminally insane.

The 3DTV, 3Dradio and 3Dnet were running emergency bulletins and advise programs. 3Dphone networks were still running but rationed for special purposes only. Hubcopters, and drones, kept monitoring the situation from the air and there was even a surveillance satellite, in geostationary orbit, actively observing on the metropolis.

It was not long before Eddie, and the triplets, were being sent out on a mission.

Not This Earth
One 19.1[23]

'They' wanted the team to track down a seemingly unimportant petty official except that the mission was given high priority status. They were not told why they had to find, protect and return the woman but only that they had to get her to one of the Green Zones where the undead had been sealed off from. They were given a home address, other addresses, Email addresses and other data. Trouble was that the home address was in the middle of a Red Zone swarming with the undead and other threats; they were rogue humans, dangerous unlifen, living monsters and those insane with strange powers.

A paramilitary helicopter, disguised as a civilian machine, dropped them off deep in the Red Zone. It came in quick and departed the same, never switching off its electric motors of its duel blades. In growing daylight, when the undead were retreating into shelter, and became generally weaker, the team began to move quickly through an area of mild luxury terrace houses squeezed together behind high security walls and small gardens, front and back.

Not bothering to be disguised, they wore grey-brown body-armour along with light flexible armoured fatigues along with special helmets, gloves and boots. They moved across linked terrace roofs, that in practice made on big roof. They darted past solar hot water systems, vents, solar power arrays, power wind cylinders, skylights and other features. It seemed no undead had gotten up there but they were extra careful anyway.

It was good that they were extremely cautious for soon they ran into a powerful threat.

I am decided to restart DC Torchwood to simplify its plot though I will keep all the characters and the areas involved. I will give time for feedback if readers do not like this idea.
