Deleted55545892User
Oops! I don't like this thread. Where is the button to share my opinion on it? The old saying I remember is, "If you can't say something good about anything, don't say anything about anything you can't say anything good about." Shove off and go find something you like before you find yourself in a brawl because you shouted out that you didn't like what you were seeing. Leave already! Get out of the hate house you live in and find the house you like filled with the people you like, the things they do that you like, and the way everyone lives that you like. If you find yourself thinking your brain is about to pop because you don't like what you see, get away, run away, NOW! I'm going to take my own advice and leave this thread NOW before I write something I will regret later about John Belushi. Everyone has likes or dislikes. It's just human. There's nothing wrong with that (except when it comes to hurting people themselves..like some level of viciousness that hits at people's cores or something. This is not what we're talking about, I hope). But having an opinion on media or art is a good thing. And in many ways, it's PART of the experience of sharing art and partly fun.. to actually have those arguments. It EVEN fuels further art. I've come up with music that was partly borne out of being dissatisified. Entire genres have, in fact. Punk wouldn't even exist, for example, if Patti Smith and the Ramones and Iggy Pop were so happy-go-lucky about disco and 10 minute guitar solos. Their own music came out of being pissed off at the decadence happening to music in their time (both with companies and bands). And some of the greatest film directors were once critics.. or came out of film schools that did a lot of criticism.

HadToRegister
What do you think about kudos here? I give out Kudos on special occasions.Sometimes, it's the title of a Mod that's funny, or a hilarious picture of a mod (stick figure, or google eyes on a Skyrim character etc), and sometimes it's just for someone posting a comment that I find hilarious that actually DOES make me laugh out loud.I don't hand those out like out like daises though. I've given 97 kudos total over 10 years for an average of 9.7 kudos' a year or 0.8 kudos' a month. Along with 954 endorsements
kvnchrist
Is it the web site or the people coming to these sites that feel the need for the like/dislike buttons and if it is the membership, what does that say about them? Is a like button an acknowledgement of the person's opinion or is it an acknowledgement of the poster personally? If a member places undue value on their posts being liked, wouldn't that tempt a person to alter their opinions in a way that will bring them more likes and by doing so eradicate the person they are for a personality they are not? Deleted55545892User
Come to think of it, I've only been to one forum that had a like feature. Maybe I don't get around enough. It seems more common on news (comment sections) or media sites... in which case it makes more sense. Since the purpose of those "likes" tends to bump a well liked statement to the top. I wonder how they get all those?
