What happens if New Vegas had Multiplayer like Fallout 76?

Yall say hell no as if there is an active think tank to figure out how to make this engine into an only multi player experience for you. So your single player won't be available anymore ?

Look at Fallout 76. The way that Bethesda chose to do it, yes, multi-player means that single player won't be available any more. If they had done the Fallout 76 approach back when FNV came out, then I do very much believe that FNV wouldn't be the game that it is today with the reputation that it has among the Fallout series.

No one here believes that anyone is actively trying to turn FNV into a multiplayer game. There was actually an attempt at that at one point, but I think it has fizzled out. The whole point of this thread is a discussion about what if they had chosen to make FNV multi-player back in the day. We are just giving our opinions. We are entitled to our opinions, just as you are entitled to yours.

If you like the idea of multiplayer Fallout, then by all means, buy FO76 when it comes out. Tell us how you like it, because there is no way in hell that I am ever going to buy it.

Can you imagine starting the game, stepping out into the world and instead of setting out to discover who shot you in the head, you're faced with a bunch of squeakers hurling obscenities at everyone? then you try to speak to Trudy while surrounded by idiots bunny hopping all over the place, it would have been terrible. As for Fallout 76, go over to the Bethesda forum, read some of the stuff over there, as you read the various posts you can feel your IQ dropping, and these are the people you'll be sharing a server with, no thanks.

I read one post where the person said the only reason she would buy Fallout 76 is because she is a Fallout Fan, and she said she will add it to her collection.

If nothing else she may have bought the one with the power armor helmet to hang on the wall, or maybe use it at a Halloween party just for all the lucky ones who got it.

They already have gotten enough sales to support them until they figure out another gimmick to add for the next generation of Fallout players who will never know what they missed because they weren't even old enough to wear big boy and big girl diapers yet when Fallout: New Vegas came out.

They already sold out all 500 collectors addictions with the full size wearable helmet from the power armor set.

My step-nephew was 11 when New Vegas came out. He's played that along with Fallout 3 and 4. He visited at one point this past summer and we had quite the discussion about the Fallout games. Now, bear in mind that I've only played New Vegas. Neither of us has played the Interplay Fallouts. "Emmett" got a glimpse of me playing Honest Hearts and Old World Blues with a modded game. Much of the time, I did a bunch of inventory management with my companions (uncapper and DLC mods). We discussed all the different mods and exploits, different builds, different playthroughs and endings, etc. Ditto the broken mess that is Oblivion (I've never played Skyrim but he has). He and I have different outlooks on weapon and armor loadouts. He's all about a subjective cool factor; fine. I tend to think a bit more objectively, studying the hell out of the Fallout wiki. At the time of Emmett's visit, I had used a Holorifle-based tribal genius build specced out in unarmed, melee, and energy weapons. I've thought of trying out the battle rifle/This Machine but given my M.O. of doing all the DLCs, I think it might ultimately come back to the good ol' Holorifle. Remember how much easier it is to craft energy ammo than ballistic ammo given all the components needed to make either.

I thought I read them saying single player will still be available (from the start ? ) but it would definitely be available with a private server.

Ya I failed to stay on topic , sorry . But still ... an arena style private server could have worked , along with the single player content released. But no ... not the big lobby world with their set content. Would have been a mess X 100 , like the Bauldurs Gate multi player.

Not even to Mod it ! and play dungeon master ?

I just think ya'll are missing the bigger picture ... And when I said next gen , I meant more like gaming in general.

The set up of relationship between player and content writer ... and god for bid  maybe another player ?

I see the possibilities of their private server mention ... (which is probably half of why I like the idea , then just Fallout genre in general , but a fair amount towards it ... Is just more than 1 player being available to some extent.

I understand the reason to not like the professional PaW~ner pukes !!! But private servers are the answer to that.

Imho .

True single player is not available from FO76 and according to what Bethesda has said it never will be an option. Bethesda is aware of all of the backlash against this and keeps talking about how you can play it alone, but you aren't playing single player. You are playing a multi-player game while playing solo, which is most definitely NOT the same thing as single player. There are no NPCs in FO76, only other players. There are quests that you can do solo, but there is no single player option. Period.

Pete Hines keeps talking about how he likes playing the game solo. He's trying to win over people like me. It isn't working. I know the difference between solo multiplayer and single player. Put in a real single player mode and I might be interested. I have no interest in solo multiplayer.

Private servers will not be an option in the initial release of FO76. They are planned for a future release. So basically Bethesda is releasing yet another buggy and unfinished game. No surprise there. The scary thing is how little they have shown actual gameplay this close to the game's release. It gives me the impression that they are still trying to make the game work and are making significant gameplay changes this close to shoving the game out the door.

FO76 also won't support mods initially.

It looks like long-term you will eventually be able to mod it and make private servers and play dungeon master, but all of that most definitely will not be in the initial release of FO76.

Is that this mod link https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/45511?tab=description

6 years old from creation. Is it still being worked on ? Or is this the rumor tell of the one that never quite worked ?

Would be nice to see some video of actual multi player battle , not just cruising the strip and meeting up with friends.

I applaud the effort though ... I see they removed all the quests , which I mentioned earlier would be a mess to leave them in.

And would be nice to take this foundation mod if it working good enough ... then add to it using private servers ... to make an active dungeon master effecting the game for a few or umpteen players , Live

Thanks for the mention ColtonM
