An independent New Vegas mod.

Well, if you've played Fallout 3, the basic documents, the Bill of Rights, Magna Carta, Bill of Rights, Constitution, Declaration of Independence, are in the good hands of Abraham Washington and the Rivet City Capital Preservation Society.

....have a traveling show from the Capital have Button Gwinnett as part of the show,

Good ideas, I wonder though (just cuz I'm lazy and although I love the idea, voicework might be a pain) if maybe just remaking the National Archives adventure might be actually easier than the traveling show? Maybe assume the lone wanderer didn't get to it. I'd have to make a plausible way to get to teh archives (undergroudn monorail) though so I don't have to include any extra work (like parts of DC). Both the traveling show and the archives mod sound interesting. The show would have a lot of character and NPC interaction. The archives would have a lot of action.

where he can teach the people of the Mohave the virtues of American citizenship and democracy. For absolute lulz, have Button be the one to talk to the Enclave Remnants and convince them to stop being the Enclave by creating a conversation based on the thoughts and ideas of the Founding Fathers, making use of Jefferson, Madison, Washington and Hamilton as well as important thinkers of their era they drew on like Ben Franklin, John Locke, Adam Smith and Baron Montesquieu.

He would be an awesome teacher/proponent of democracy and american history

I take it Abraham Washington would be leading the show, but Gwinnette would be the real star? Oh if he can get Gwinnette he could also re-activate Jefferson and the other protectrons (maybe?). That would be quite a little actors group.

Hey, just wanted to add some more places for securitrons to guard:

1) Helios One - whether this is a power plant or weapon, it's still a major location for whomever controls the Mojave. Just replace the NCR personal with a couple of securitrons and maybe add a patrol or two (fixing the fence would be a good idea, but whatever).

I agree that is a serious security issue, but it's under NCR control/jurisdiction. The player really only gets NV itself, the damn and the legion camp for free. After that it's a question of how he/she's going to handle the many other areas the NCR occupy. Is it going to be an alliance where the NCR is allowed to retain their holdings and a seperate independant NV city state. Or is NV just the first step to throwing the NCR out of teh Mojave.

Maybe if the alliance is particularly strong, sometime in the future there could eventually (after healing the rift) be securitron's and ncr jointly patroling some areas.

2) Scrapyard - remove half the stuff in there and have one or two securitron(s) standing watch over it, as it is being used for resources. Alternately, add more scrap/vehicle parts as a major stockpile area.

3) Repconn Test Site - I sent the ghouls on their way so there are no more rockets (for now). but the tech for this is still lying around, and don't forget that one of Mr. House's goals was a base on another world. If nothing else, this would be a good place to make weapons.

Sure. Defintely the repconn test site. I dont' really see a big draw to protect old lady Gibson, but she's near Novac and the player would certainly receive Kudos for sending out security to the scrapyard and the town (as well as the other towns). Plus the player should be able to send out some bots, even if we don't think they're important he/she might want to anyway. Same caveat as above in re: to NCR protected towns though.

Isbelle had offered to do the voice work for Marilyn the securitron in the new vegas mod talk forum, and I hope to work with her to make a very cool companion. If the project is a go, I think she'd fit right in with this mod. We already have the extra floors from the Lucky 38 Suite Reloaded and it would be perfect to run across a deactivated Marilyn securitron to start the quest. She may even be invaluable as a source of info re: past activities of Mr. Houses.

Regarding the archives quest, aside from the declaration of Independence, was it the Magna Carta or the Bill of Rights (or both?) that the LW recovered? IIRC he already had the constitution, but there are plenty of other potential documents to find/recover...

or perhaps he got the wrong one? Perhaps he got a poster version of the constitution or something, or maybe it was hidden away after a terrorist threat or something, or the pre-war gove. felt like engaging in some revisionist history or something.

Going to DC is a LONG way, I mean, why would Button and friends just up and leave?

One possibility could involve the Capital Wasteland Brotherhood wanting to get back in touch with the west coast... assuming the canonical "good" ending, Elder Lyons came out with a rather strong hand, with the wasteland getting cleaner (that Harold dude, I assume, is going to help greenify the CW eventually) and the super mutants/enclave are both toast, plus the water purifier and Liberty Prime & everything else being in control

Actually, he's probably got like 80% of the brotherhood's manpower at this point, considering how divided/decimated the West Coast chapters are, so he could easily declare himself head-elder or something by right of strength/resources. They do have at least one vertibird (probably more, 3 years and salvage from the Enclave etc. could give a bird or two in all likelihood) so there's no reason that a recon/envoy en force might be sent west to check up on things.

OK so it looks like all three were in the national archives, so potentially he/she could have gotten them all, or just consittion. Or maybe never even did that quest (no idea on how canon side quests are).

True, and the only motivation that really comes to mind is a shinning beacon of old world freedom. He hears about a new NV or (more likely) NCR, that is a Republic fashioned on the model of the old world. And decides to bring his store of American history, having traveling shows along the way. Your right though it's a stretch, but kind of a cool idea.

I could see, Lyons solidifying his power base in DC, but I'd hate to go much further than that because there is so much to the multiple BOS chapters, like the midwestern branch, Texas etc. And their kind of big unknowns right now. Plus I think they'd be more intesting and have more variety if they *were'nt* under the same banner.

Oh kind of off topic, but I remember reading somewhere that the midwestern chp has supermutants (can't find the source at the moment, so take it with a grain of salt), but that's an interesting twist.

OK, but sending a Vertibird west might be a way to get some presence for them. hey, the LW would definitely enough clout to pull a few strings, and if he's supposed to be a goody-two-shoes I can see how he might agree with Abraham wrt. republicanism. Sort of like with the Einstein and Szilard letter. Or he could just huff it over the country, but a relatively frail (and not suitably badass) old man isn't exactly one to wander through the wastes at leisure. Hence why I'd attach him to something, perhaps have Fawkes or a BoS paladin/scribe go west alongside him as some heavy security & extra eyes & ears?

This is all just spit-balling, though, not any particular sales pitch.

Oh I gotcha, you meant re-connecting, I thought you meant re-uniting the BOS chapters under him. Yeah for sure sending out envoys etc. Is LW elder lyons or ??

Sorry, I missed the meaning in this reference, a superweapon in the mojave or DC, that one or the other side needs to be aware of?

True, plus he's not exactly the adventurer type, heck if he was he would have gotten off his lazy butt and grabbed the consition himself.....since it was just down a few blocks. So yeah that's a good idea with a small envoy of DC BOS. Not because the elder wants to spread Abrahams message, but maybe Abraham traded him valuable info/items for a trip out west to this beacon of democracy and Lyons let him tag along since they have a misison to contact the mojave BOS.

LW=Lone Wanderer.

I figure that, regardless of the side quests, the canon ending has the lone wanderer as a goody-two-shoes... and frankly, after three years of heroic ass-kicking, he's got a right to feel proud.

My angle is that by now the LW is quite susceptible to blue-sky outlandish pipe dream projects, like Washington's go west scheme; and while elder Lyons might be wise/experienced enough not to succumb to his idealism to the same extent, if the LW is pushing for an expedition, then he's probably going to yield sooner or later, especially if the LW spins it as a "joint mission" to re-connect with the western chapters. The LW's practically a saint out east.

It would be an interesting case of where the hero gets a little ahead of himself...

Sure, but I'd rather not have the LW come along, I doubt I could do him/her justice, kind of a legend. And for those of us that use tale of two wastelands, the courier is the lone wanderer (& vice versa). But your idea (or my misunderstanding of what you were saying...either way) of a east coast BOS envoy to the Mojave chapter makes sense. Adn it's not too much of a stretch to have good ol Abraham tag along (if he provided something useful for in trade for the trip).

Oh, yeah, the LW would stay back; he's just one of the drives behind the mission going through with BoS support and not just some "wing nut" wandering off on his own.

As for what exactly Abraham would bring.. isn't he good with computers? IIRC he set up an archive system and/or hacked the national archives or something...

basically, though, he would be mostly a tag-along; the LW's support being enough to get him a plane ticket, and, besides, having a non-BoS figure along might help negotiations with the NCR somewhat. This being largely post-facto justification/use of his presence.
