Question for people who use adult non lore-friendly content.

I'll try to be as candid with my answer as possible, because I do have two of such mods and I am curious of other people's answers as well. One, was because as a new modder I didn't really understand a lot. It's sort of an IT joke with my friends to use adult content to test functionality of certain things (Example: Testing a new internet connection by visiting a random porn site etc). Its sort of an inside joke. So i used one to test FNIS. The second had immersive purposes, being a prostitution mod (the oldest profession, even in Skyrim lol).

For the record, I generally consider myself to be asexual, (and my answers aren't likely accurate to what you're asking of others). So I get no real "thrill" from these mods. I more so find myself impressed with the complexity of their creation, especially script heavy ones, and how they are added into the game, there is a certain sense of art to it and other adult contents aside from game modding. Also comedy when I forget one of the necessary requirements and characters bend in weird ways or T-pose on top of one another motionless.

But I do fail to understand how anyone can find serious sexual interest in these mods, or any animated adult content that does not closely mimic real life. I don't understand how anime porn can make people aroused because, at least to me, it just looks like a cartoon. Maybe well made, but so far from life I can't understand how it evokes such a response. I'm not judging these people by the way, I just don't understand the biology/psychology behind it. If something real is available (and often free) why settle for a cartoon or a game mod? And how does something so unreal illicit the proper response within the body?

For the most part I don't use the mods, and likely won't install them again as they were mostly just testing grounds. Actually I'm mid reinstall due to serious game breaking problems. I probably won't install them again. Saving my scripting mods for things like Sacrosanct and Thunderchild now.

Edit: As for the lore question. I suppose it all comes down to how you define lore vs role playing. In my youth I rarely cared for game lore and preferred my "personal lore". But that was when I was very young. I do have more interest in established lore now. But I mostly spend my Skyrim time seeing how far I can push things before they break these days. The current standing is 5 full re-installs.

I used to play Dungeons and Dragons in a club that was 100% entirely dedicated to role playing games: Dungeons and Dragons, GURPS, Champions, Cyberpunk, and so on

Now realize this was back in the 1980's so there was no internet around, but we had a phrase for Dungeon Masters ( game masters ) { this was the person running the campaign or module and "in charge" } that when they would break "lore", do something goofy, or go completely overboard, we would refer to that person as a "Monty Python DM / GM " People in a Membership only club would immediately make excuses to not play with that DM / GM if they continued to do that. It was nothing personal, but when you spend months building a character and a back story, and then a DM starts to do stuff like that, you learn real quick to "retire" that character if you've become attached to it.

I STILL to this day have the original character sheet for, yup you guessed it, Gromulos - my human Beastmaster and all of his friends animal or not lol

See my siggy for the link to my short story here on the Nexus of Gromulos and his friends :)

I get using the mods for comedic purposes seeing as they're as ridiculous as they are. But not unlike you, I don't get what people get out of it in terms of sexual arousal or such. In my mind, you're reducing Skyrim to a mere porn game fit for a 12 year old boy who has no idea what women are. I just don't get it. I may sound like I'm judging but I'm just genuinely curious what people get out of it besides the occasional laugh.

Unlike you, I did some research with much better results then you've gotten here. I am retired, and yet, in this case I feel like a fee is required for doing the work I did. A token of your appreciation, to put me in a good enough mood to give you the "Answer".

You will be amazed and I'll get some thing more out of this then a feeling I just got duped by a college student, or worse, duped by a professional college student into doing their homework on a thesis for them. You know, PROFESSOR!

I doubt you really want to know though.

I'm not even sure what you're trying to say in this quote. Can you please clarify?

I think that someone who is invested in a games story might be less likely to put in silly and non lore friendly mods if given the chance.

Bethesda's games have since Oblivion and Fallout 3 been lacking more and more in the writing, story and role play department compared the the previous games in the series.

Comparing my installation of Oblivion versus Skyrim i see that i have more non lorefriendly mods in Skyrim than in Oblivion.

But Skyrim's gameplay is improved from Oblivion in which for me it becomes a *this is fun but you know what would make it even more fun? Being able to throw daggers, axes and explosives at the enemies*.

I asked myself if given the chance would i put in non lore friendly mods into a The Witcher or Gothic game?

The answer is no because i am invested in the games story and i don't see it being any beneficial to my overall experience of the game by doing it.

Back at the adult stuff, i think you could get the same answer as when asking the purpose of videogames in general.

Because it's a break from reality.

I can't really give any good explanation why anyone would like to see any pornographic with characters from a game without saying *because it's different from what's normal.*

Besides does any adult movie have a realistic plot?

I happen to agree with gamevsreality

Fallout 3 and New vegas both had EXCELLENT story lines compared to Fallout 4

Now we have fallout 76 coming out with NO story line at all, and there lies the problem for me personally

I will NOT be buying FO76, or any other game Bethesda makes untill they bring back the story line, because this is what made me fall in love with both the fallout and Skyrim universes.

to this day I STILL play all 3 games, ( 3, NV, and SR ) to ME personally, the story line is a huge part of the lore.

Hell, even Fallout shelter had a story line lol :P

Was this an attempt at an insult? I hope not, as I was never trying to insult anyone. I AM genuinely curious, but if you are one who use the types of mods mentioned and don't want to tell me why, that's fine.

That's what I was thinking. It felt like that came out of nowhere. I think there was a misinterpretation somewhere in here.
