Lets be clear on this.

There is no legitimate version of Skyrim or Fallout 4 that is free.

If you got it free, and not downloaded from Steam, it is pirated.

We do not support pirated games here.

I'm going crazy here. I have all my mods enabled, I have auto-deploy enabled, I have handle enabled. Everything is supposed to be good, the deployment method is in the same disk as the game, yet NOTHING is working. I can't get any mods to work, nothing shows up in plugin but everything says it's enabled. I've been trying, looking for fixes, alternatives online. Nothing. I get nothing. I used to use NMM and that worked like a damn dream. Vortex doesn't work as it supposedly should. At least not for me.

Does anyone know what the problem might be?

I keep getting the Error " You have to select a deployment method first ", but the deployment is where Vortex suggested it.

Nevermind.. In my frustration and anger I neglected the one thing you usually have to do to fix s#*!. Restart them.

I closed Vortex and restarted it and voila! Works.

I'm stupid.

This is a few years late but for folks in the future whoare having the problems im having I realized the issue I was having was that I installed Fallout 4 Script Extender as a Mod within Vortex but you need to install it directly into your game file, just download the 7zip file, unzip it, drag the contents into your fallout 4 game file and I was able to deploy mods with vortex

that is nothing whatsoever to do with deploying mods. it is perfectly acceptable to install script extenders via vortex, and it has nothing to do with how or why mods are deployed.

Actually you can install all script extenders with Vortex, unless you're running a super old version.
