MiaVelazquez
A lot of sites and even online games make use of a profanity filter, including games rated E10+ like DCUO. In these sites and games you can turn on and off the filter. As I have quickly become aware the Nexus uses an automatic filter that either censors or autocorrects words, for example "slüt" with a non-umlaut is automatically corrected to "flirt", asterisks are automatically placed in genuine swear words as well. If I wanted to have my opinion invalidated and censored I'd go to the Bethesda forums. I don't know the laws in GB where the servers are hosted but in America this is called obstruction of free speech and is illegal, which is why the forums and games I mentioned have a toggleable filter. "the FCC won't let me be, or let me be me so let me see..."
gorshkov
Just so you know .......... a) if the servers are in GB, it really doesn't matter wtf the laws are in the US because they don't apply. And b) it's only illegal for the GOVERNMENT to interfere with your speech. I'm pretty sure nexus was never elected to anything

Pickysaurus
Here's a little snip from our Terms of Service: https://help.nexusmods.com/article/22-forum-and-commenting-guidelines No profanity. It is perfectly possible to express yourself using civil language. Do not attempt to circumvent the profanity filter. It's perfectly possibly to communicate your ideas without the use of profane words, and it's just good manners really

No such thing exists in America. Not on a private site. They offer those toggles simply because they choose to, not because the law said they have to. Rabbit1251
This has to be the lamest idea that I've ever heard. And as has been said, your American "freedom of speech" does not exist in Britain nor does it exist in the private sector. Educate yourself before claiming that which you do not have.
