Where are loose files in vortex and how to find a conflicting loose file?

So I finally started enabling plugins with vortex, I must say that I'm amazed at how easy it is. enable a bunch of plugins, it tells what is conflicting and I simply have it load before or after.

So I start with textures because they are the most annoying to tweak. Unfortunately though I forgot how annoying loose files are.

My problem: Started with most of my textures, looked great. Installed the remainder with simply bigger trees being in there, one of my favourite mods I can't be without, and now I have LoD half trees. I already checked out simply bigger trees on nexus and it says that there is a loose file with a tree LoD. I recall something about this from 4 years ago on oldrim and that was the case. Unfortunately somply bigger trees is packed as an ESP so it can't overwrite the loose file textures.

I tried using vortex but I couldn't find an option to show loose files and couldn't find any files simply bigger trees was being overwritten by. Basically it looks great when around me, huge trees, but in the distance the trees are normal sized and only half of them (vertically) are loaded and as I move closer, the bigger trees load and everything looks fine.

How do I find loose files with vortex?

How would I find a conflicting loose file that does tree LoD?

How do I uninstall loose files?

And a weird question I will have to test again to be sure I wasn't crazy. I disabled the plugin for simple bigger trees and disabled the mod but simply bigger trees was still applied to my game? Did I change something in vortex so I can't change mods so it doesn't affect my profile in game or something???

So you want to know which mod provides a certain loose file?

If that's the case, then Vortex can't show you that at this time (I'm sure it will be added at some point).

There's a workaround though:

Get LinkShellExtension (http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/linkshellextension.html)

After you've installed this, you can browse the data folder for the file you want to know which mod it's coming from, right-click it and select "Properties". On the tab "Link Properties" it's showing you all the links. On of them is the representation in the Data folder, the other is the mod the file is linked from:

Hope that's what you're looking for.

Thanks,I think that is what I need? I'm trying to find Tree LODs, I used search everything and found them (at least the ones named treelod lol). It may be caused by SFO though (skyrim flora overhaul).

So hear is another question.

Simply bigger trees is conflicting with another tree LOD. Fine. No problem, I will just uninstall simply bigger trees. Except now my bigger trees remain and so does my gltichy tree lod. What gives? I uninstalled the mod!! why is it being applied in game still?

In regard to your "another question," after you uninstalled did you purge and then examine your game data folder to see what remains? Perhaps that would help you to find unwanted files lurking in your data folder. If not, then perhaps the LinkShellExtension tool recommended by Grestorn will do the job for you. (By the way, I followed Grestorn's recommendation and immediately downloaded LinkShellExtension. It appears to be an amazing tool.)

Edit: After posting this comment, I saw that you had solved your problem. Congratulations!

Yes I downloaded it also.

Now I'm currently testing skyrimSE after my texture mode. Looks fine so far except for weird dips in fps which should not be happening with my rig. Is there some kind of patch or fix for unexplained FPS drops?

Sorry, but the issue of a patch or fix for unexplained FPS drops is above my pay grade. However, there are lots of knowledgeable folk on this forum who can help you.
