Is it possible to use NMM still?

Hi, I've been trying to use Vortex, but after queuing up a bunch of mods to download for XCOM 2, it stopped ~40% into the first mod (Long War 2) and whenever I try to resume the download it'd just stuck at "Pending". If I try to resume any of the other mods I get "Failed to download".

I never had any problems with NMM, but I can't find it anywhere now, only Vortex. Is there no way to go back to NMM?

But automatic installs aren't supported on NMM from Nexus Mods anymore are they? (there's no button to use it for installs anymore that I've seen)

Personally, I don't like the look of Vortex. Most of it seems like changes for the sake of change (let's change EVERYTHING about the manager!) Why don't the categories assigned to mods on Nexus Mods carry over to the mods you download from there into the mod manager? Or do they? I've only started using it. And the only reason I switched is because support for NMM has been withdrawn in favor of Vortex.

For what it's worth: Most changes are NOT there "just because" but because NMM was broken by principle. Especially the way it handled overwriting of loose files. Vortex is infinitely better at this. You might want to reconsider.

The time spent learning how to use Vortex is well spent.

Simply untrue.

Click on the INSTALL VORTEX Button, scroll down (I know....scary!), and you'll be met with this.

Also, this has been covered in a multitude of threads already if you bothered to use that nifty search feature next to the Magnifying Glass

They've also included *gasp* a link to github where you can download the latest version of NMM.

Enjoy not knowing if your load order is messed up and if you have mod conflicts.

NMM is still better than Vortex because NMM at least allows you to play the game without constantly disabling your mods.... Vortex has potential, but it needs to go back to alpha before it is released.

So, you just going to go around to every thread and disparage Vortex?

If you'd take the time to learn Vortex, you'd see how much more powerful it is than NMM.

Some of the problems that people are having with Vortex stems from an NMM corrupted config.

Having used Vortex for the past eight months, I have not experienced the problem you cite. From what I've seen, a significant number of users who report this problem are people who don't understand deployment and external change management.

I would have to agree with the original poster of this thread, NMM was far more simple to use. I didn't need a guide to figure out how to use it.

Nor did i need to understand "deployment and external change management".

I just want to mod and play my video game after a long days work without having to go through a tutorial.

Vortex looks nice but is over designed to look similar to Nvidia's "GeForce Experience". Now it is over halfway through 2019 and NMM support is completely down in favor of a overly complicated system.

Not to mention that every time a post like this one is opened to ask for help, all that happens is that the individuals with the concern or question about how to use Vortex, how to go back to NMM, or to report bugs about Vortex just get attacked by the same three to four people. Depending on which ones are suspended at the time.

Regardless of reporting these people for inflammatory comments that they post they never seem to get banned.

It shouldn't be this complicated to use a mod manager, and you shouldn't disable the old one until the bugs with the new one are worked out.

Even so it should still be more stable than a newly released, day one Bethesda game before patching.

The very first time I downloaded it, I had it try to detect games, it got through three games before freezing then crashing.

I then tried to get it to detect the mods the NMM already downloaded and installed.

There was no simple place to go, I tried going to mange game but nothing happened, I tried going to all the different tabs on the left hand side (where one might think they would be) but I still could not find the installed mods.

Vortex did however keep giving me an annoying popup about a missing master so the option must have been there somewhere to see the mods already installed by NMM.

Vortex looks nice but it needs to be simplified greatly.

As something as simple as looking for your installed mods/or masters should be easy.

But despite automatically taking over for all associated NMM flies it will NOT communicate with NMM to see what you have already installed in a SIMPLE manner.

I'm tired frustrated and have work tomorrow, and all I wanted to do was update looks menu for fallout 4 and have some fun.

This should have been apart of Vortex's first time startup, should have been handled automatically.

It's 12:31 am here and I have work at 5:30

Vortex can burn for wasting hours of my day just trying to get it to work.

Hope everyone else has a good night.
