TheWildWes
So I used to use NMM, and I'm trying Vortex. While downloading mods, I get this conflict error. It then prompts me to decide which of the mods will load first. I'm not exactly sure what loading before or after does, so I'm unable to make a precise decision in my mod installation. In NMM I got conflict errors and it asked me which one I wanted to override in regards to their similar files, but I don't know what to do in this case. Help is appreciated. Thank you. AugustaCalidia
Vortex is asking you to do the very same thing that NMM asked you to do in dealing with conflicting (overlapping) files. Only Vortex asks you to do it after a mod is installed, whereas NMM asked you to do it while a mod was being installed. For example, if you selected Mod A to overwrite Mod B when using NMM, then do the same with Vortex by making a rule that Mod A loads after Mod B. The advantage of the Vortex approach is that it allows you to change your overwrite decision simply by changing the rule. To do the same with NMM, you would first need to uninstall at least one mod and then reinstall it. AugustaCalidia
what is the point of have a load order sort function if have to tell it first? You are confusing installation order with load order. In the case of load order, you are sorting plugins. Vortex does this automatically, for the most part. In the case of installation order, you are resolving overlapping file conflicts (e.g., overlapping textures) by specifying which file will win out. Vortex asks you to name the winner, because Vortex has no idea who you want to win. Installation order is not the same as load order.
