AugustaCalidia
Guys, I apologize if I come across as rude but I didn't know this was so taboo. For those of us that haven't touched Special Edition before, it would help to explain where the problem is when you're making posts. I was only using the resources available to me and your responses of "what?" and "I'm going to echo him, WHAT?" are not only unhelpful but arrogant. In the hope that the OP does see this, he did not at all come across as rude. My "What?" was not a response to rudeness nor an expression of arrogance. It was an expression of total surprise and puzzlement at OP's attempted solution to his problem, viz., to "pack up the data folder within SKSE64," treat it as a mod, and drag and drop it into Vortex. He can receive some excellent help in this forum. I hope he comes back.
HadToRegister
My "WHAT?" was was the same, Surprise and Puzzlement.Oh well, OP says he didn't mean to be rude, then leaves with a pseudo-rude comment, so, he's on his own AFAIC.FWIW, That tutorial video is unnecessary and I don't agree with the person making the tutorial, he's added a ridiculous amount of steps that could've been done in one step by just extracting the zip file to the root of your Skyrim Directory
Grestorn
@OneShotPaddy: No one ever said that you were rude and I appologize if you felt being attacked. I don't think that was anyones intention. But we now know that this is just a misunderstanding. As rmm200 said, the video is not about packing the game's Data folder but simply the Data folder if SKSE to turn part of it into a mod. You can do that, but it's really not necessary. Install SKSE simply by unpacking it into the Game directory (so that skse_loader.exe ends up in the same directory as SkyrimSE.exe).
AvatarVecna
If the OP by some miracle is still checking this thread, I have been having a similar issue - I download, install, enable, an deploy mods exactly as all the instructional videos indicate, and even confirm that the files are present in both the Vortex folder and Steam's SSE folder somewhere, but when I launch the game, I end up in the vanilla wagon despite the presence of Alternate Start. I haven't found a solution to this problem but I've found what I think is the cause in my case: despite receiving no warning about this from Vortex when I try to use mods (which various videos and forum posts tell me Vortex should've done), my My Games\SSE folder has no ini files within it, only the Saves folder...which is also empty, despite having played through the whole opening and made a save, which I've then later been able to successfully load. (The reason i went looking for them in the first place is because one of the possible fixes I found elsewhere online was that the mods might work if you add a Launcher option into the Prefs.ini file, except then I found I didn't have one of those) AFAICT, the ini files are generated when you launch the game for the first time and/or when you play for a few minutes and/or when you make a saved game. Presuming it's connected to the latter, the fact that SSE isn't putting save files in the My Games\SSE\Saves folder might be related to why it's not generating ini files. Again, I don't have a solution for this yet, I just think it might be the culprit of the "can play the game, but no mods trigger" issue. EDIT: I can also confirm with 90% certainty that the problem is SSE rather than Vortex, because loading Vortex up with KOTOR II mods is working just fine, and that game doesn't even have a My Games folder.
