Lhyssa
Ever since Vortex became the default, I can't download, update or replace ANYTHING. I've done what the setup tells me to do, set it to manage downloads from the Nexus and, upon picking a mod (I lost my HDD and have to reinstall everything) and clicking on the Vortex button to download, NOTHING HAPPENS. On a side note, support for Vortex seems nonexistent. No one answers on the Discord page and finding this forum was a startling surprise when it opened seemingly on it's own. There are no contact numbers to ask for help and this seems to have been shoved down our throats without any options to avoid it. NMM was simple and elegant and now we can't even use that to update older mods (not that I have that option any longer). All I want to do is play my games with my mods. HALP! Guest deleted34304850
nmm is still available. if you search this forum you'll see a legion of posts where people make the same mistaken claim that nmm has gone away. it hasn't.if you don't like vortex, you are not compelled, forced or urged to use it if you don't want to.btw - vortex works perfectly. i've got all my games under its management and it is a massive improvement over everything that went before it. somerandomsheepthathops
Really? This place is quite active! I mean, I was able to install Vortex and set it up by myself going almost entirely off of what people like HadToRegister & 1ae0bfb8 posted to help others; with some quick looks at documentation and critical thinking when hitting any stumbling blocks. Those two in particular have been remarkably active and helpful to others. Right, being snide isn't really gonna help... there have been people reporting failed downloads and extremely slow download speeds. If you're having trouble downloading from Vortex, I suppose you'll need to wait a while and try it again later, or see what manual downloading does. If I am not mistaken, you can download the mods manually, add the archives to Vortex, then delete the downloaded zip file, as copies will have been made and sent over to Vortex's directory (someone correct me if I am wrong about this). It's not ideal, but this does bypass any issues you may have with downloading mods through Vortex. I did that for 100+ mods for Fallout, and it found an alarming amount of conflicts and issues that NMM happily ignored for me.

You are not mistaken. You can manually download to Vortex in the manner you have described. In fact, that is my preferred method of downloading mods. Lhyssa
Thank you guys for responding. Unfortunately, I did not find this place on purpose (as I mentioned, it popped up while I was surfing around trying to get help), so your assistance is very much appreciated. I have been frustrated for a while and obviously that frustration came through in my comments, so thank you for bearing with me and trying to help. I tried to link to NMM and went to download something and it told me that it would be delivered by Vortex and then did nothing via NMM... I know I am not programming savvy and Manual Download seems a bit confusing for someone used to just clicking "Download" and having NMM do the rest, which is why I grew frustrated when Vortex did not (does not) do the same thing. If anyone is willing to help this old-timer figure out how to do this, I'd very much appreciate it.
Guest deleted34304850
i would advise you to follow the advice offered by nexus - if you have a working set up - do not transition to vortex unless you have to. if all you want is to use nmm as you did previously, you can do that with minimal effort. you will need to make sure you are using the latest version of nmm, and that your browser of choice is set to use nmm to open links from nexusmods, and that's pretty much it. if you want to transition away from nmm to vortex fully - then you will need to watch a couple of videos and read some of the posts in the vortex forums. everything you need to know, to get going is out there. there is a learning curve, but it's not that steep. you just need to remain focussed and understand what you want to do, and how vortex can be used to get you to that point. so, if you read this reply, take a few minutes and think about what your ultimate goal is. there are plenty of people here who have transitioned from nmm to vortex and don't look back, myself included, who can help you. all you need to know is that help is available, and no matter how frustrated you get, the next answer is a question away. HadToRegister
for someone used to just clicking "Download" and having NMM do the rest, which is why I grew frustrated when Vortex did not (does not) do the same thing. But it does, you need to check this...
Lhyssa
1ae0bfb8, Thank you! Unfortunately, I am watching the Beginner's Guide by Gopher and still having the same problem. I have done everything he tells me to do (he is downloading for Skyrim, I am downloading for Fallout4) and when he says to click on the "Vortex" button and it should automatically start downloading... You guessed it. Nothing happens. WTF?? I have checked the path to be correct (it is). I have set Vortex to handle mod downloads from the Nexus. And yet... It opens the option to hit "Download" if the download does not automatically start (it doesn't) and when I click the button, nothing happens...
