While I have no idea what is causing the problems reported in this thread, I can report that I'm not having any issues of consequence with Vortex 0.17.1. After having tried 0.70.0 and rolling back to 0.16.15, I then installed 0.17.1 about a week ago. My experience with this build has been excellent.

In reporting this, I am not denying that there are real problems for some users. I am simply saying that the build works for some (me included) but not for others. Once these issues are dealt with, I think Vortex users will be genuinely impressed with the 0.17.x versions. I already am quite impressed.

I have to say I am also a lucky winner of the 0.17.1 crashing loop. I bug reported it twice through Vortex 0.17.0, since I had to roll back to do a report. It never showed up in GitHub as an issue.

The log message from 0.17.1 mentioned a missing license.

And on 0.17.0 I have the loot crashing problem. Spinning wheel and no sort.

What is the recommended version at this point? 0.17.0 and 0.17.1 are pretty much nogo for me.

Can you still revert to 0.16.15?

Anyway, it's disappointing to learn that the crashing loop problem still remains. I wish I had a solution for you and for everyone else.

Once the crashing loop problem is fixed, I think you'll really appreciate some new features in the 0.17.x series, especially in the area of mod conflict resolution.

I will point out I have a really good platform for testing both the Loot crash on 0.17.0 and the Vortex crash on 0.17.1,

so if I can do anything to gather more information or test fixes let me know.

I will try 0.16.15 if I need Vortex in the meantime. Thanks Augusta!

Edit:

0.16.15 installed and apparently is fine. I did have to certify that I was Mad (crazy) on the downgrade.

Hopefully not too much is incompatible.

OK - now I am irritated. I tried to enter a suggestion through Feedback - and it won't let me unless I upgrade to the broken build that won't let me.

Here is the text - someone please submit it for me.

And this is all before I have had coffee... Title is: "Turn of auto-update after manual install"

"If Vortex is replaced by a manual install (usually a downgrade), turn of auto-upgrade with maybe a message to that effect.
0.17.1 is in a crash loop for me so I had to downgrade to 0.17.0 from GitHub.
Installed fine, worked fine - and immediately upgraded to broken 0.17.1. I was back in my crash loop.
Fixable - but downright irritating."
And maybe add a second suggestion to feedback: Don't force people to be on the current build before submitting feedback. It does not always work.

The issue with bug reports giving an error is known, and a bug that will be fixed soon.

Thanks Robin. Actually, I was able to bug report 0.17.1 from 0.17.0 just fine - as far as I know.

My problem was on the Suggestion branch. That is where I got the "You must update first".

(Always good to see you monitoring the goings on here - some users can be pretty toxic, and your programmers need all the support they can get)
