Setting game directory manually does not 'Save' upon exiting Vortex

I have a game installed in two different locations on two separate hdd's. One not modded whatsoever, the other my main playable client. Vortex seems to want to keep reverting to the clean version directory every damned time. I set it manually and as soon as I close the client, it resets itself and points to the wrong directory again. Any ideas how to get Vortex to actually save this state i set it to, or perhaps ignore the other directory entirely?

When you set the directory do you hit APPLY if there's an Apply Button?

That's what Profiles are for, they allow you to use the Same game, but with No Mods, some mods, or All the mods, or any combination.

Read up on "Setting up Profiles in Vortex" in the built in knowledge base.

There is no 'apply' or 'confirm' same as in the actual main settings menu. I even tried forcing Vortex to not look at other HDD's for directories, but it still does. I am not using 'profiles' within Vortex because of the changes have made to said game are outside of mod managers capabilities to comprehend. To sum it up, there is no obvious solution, it will have to be a work-around or alteration to make, or something to chalk up as not able to do at this time without making changes to the Vortex client.

Sounds like your situation is so unique that no Mod Manager is going to be able to deal with it

Vortex can't recall a setting state change I manually alter after closing the program is the issue. It is actually quite simple to handle, Vortex should save the setting state that I set it to, and stop assuming and changing directories on its own.

Your situation sounds . . . very unusual. Please provide more detail using this link as a guide: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/7332636-how-to-post-request-support-for-vortex/.

This is actually a problem in 0.16.15 and before - it should be fixed in 0.17.0 and later.

The problem is that Vortex will continue to check game locations in the registry and steam database and update it's stored location.

If the game was previously discovered in "d:\steam\steamapps\common\some game" and when vortex starts it's discovered in "e:\steam\steamapps\common\some game" then vortex assumes that the game has been moved and updates automatically which in the steam case is almost certainly what you want.

The new version is slightly smarter and won't overwrite a manually set game location.

This is kind of what I assumed....Thank you for the confirmation.
