AugustaCalidia
No, it's OK. I'm a fool. Freely admit. I hope you're saying this in jest, because you're definitely not a fool. You ask important questions, you are persistent with your questions, you investigate matters in detail, you are open to new ideas as well as learning from others. You don't look like a fool to me. Thank you Augusta Calidia, I appreciate your kind words. If I'm a fool for anything, it's taking it all too seriously and reacting defensively, sorry about that. The reality is I'm honored when someone takes the time to post in a thread (particularly one I create) in response to any of my inquiries. Even if I don't agree with what they might have to say, I appreciate their input nonetheless. Back to the whole 'LOOT-thing', I wanted to make another comment on something I'm just now remembering: About a month ago, when opening "external" LOOT to do one of my "double-checks", it gave me a new warning, can't remember exactly how it read, but something to the effect of "You have too many blah blah blah. Deactivate some plugins to avoid potential issues" or something like that. Didn't know what it meant at the time, so Googled. Found a thread on Skyrim Mods subreddit explaining, in a nutshell, I'd exceeded the 255 plugin limit. So I promptly ESL-flagged several .esp files, effectively getting below the 255 limit, then the error went away. Nowhere in Vortex's internal LOOT (or anywhere else in Vortex) did I see that message. Now maybe the message was present somewhere in Vortex and I missed it. Nevertheless, I was grateful I looked inside external LOOT before launching my game... could've potentially caused me major issues.

I installed several more plugins and got this Warning Message in External LOOT again. It reads verbatim: "You have a normal plugin and at least one light master sharing the FE load order index. Deactivate a normal plugin or all your light masters to avoid potential issues" (which again means I've exceeded the 255 normal plugin limit and have to either remove plugins and/or ESL flag plugins in xEdit to get below the 255 threshold). Nowhere in Vortex's Internal LOOT do I see this message. If it's there and I'm missing it, someone please tell me where. Otherwise I'll continue to consider the use of External LOOT completely justified and necessary.

Sorry, but I'm not going to continue to enable your compulsive habit of making modding even worse for yourself by you insisting that you drive yourself crazy by making Vortex Loot and External Loot fight each other so that you can chase your tail fighting over problems that you are causing yourself. You've been helped through all of your problems, but you keep on insisting on obsessing over comparing what External Loot says, over what built in loot says, when you SHOULD NOT be spending so much time ON THE LOAD ORDER OF YOUR ESPS. Wow, that was harsh. I think my inquiry was misunderstood. Let me ask it in a different way if I may: Let's assume for a second I'm not even using Vortex at all. If I *hypothetically* just run standalone LOOT, it has an area at the top, above all the plugins/load order, where it list non-plugin specific "Warning" messages (such as the one I posted above). My question is, does Vortex have this functionality? I realize it gives you plugin specific warnings (with the 'bell' icon directly on the plugin's line), but is there a place where it gives any 'General Warnings'? I'm not trying to be a wise guy, I'm just genuinely wanting to know. Thank you.
sopmac45
@ Thelebkaarna .... well, have you tried to install more than 255 plugins in Vortex so you can find out for yourself ? Do we need a red message in our cars control panel to tell us : DO NOT VIOLATE A RED LIGHT OR YOU WILL HAVE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT ? :pirate:
ThelebKaarna
@ Thelebkaarna .... well, have you tried to install more than 255 plugins in Vortex so you can find out for yourself ? Do we need a red message in our cars control panel to tell us : DO NOT VIOLATE A RED LIGHT OR YOU WILL HAVE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT ? :pirate:   Yes, I currently have 307 plugins installed and managed with Vortex. When I ran standalone (external) LOOT, I got the Warning message (2 posts up, highlighted in yellow). I searched all through Vortex to see if I could find that same warning message, but never found it. All I'm hoping here is that if 'non-mod specific' Warning messages exist in Vortex somewhere, someone can tell me where they are (I'm hoping they do). I have since ESL-flagged 80+ of those 307 plugins effectively getting well below the 255 plugin limit... which has caused the Warning message in standalone LOOT to go away. Would, again, still like to know if it had appeared somewhere in Vortex/Vortex's internal LOOT in a location I'm unaware of.
AugustaCalidia
@ThelebKaarna Your question whether Vortex warns about exceeding the plugin limit is a legitimate question, especially for someone with a very heavily modded game. I myself would like to know if such a warning is triggered somewhere in Vortex as a result of the LOOT alert. And if Vortex does not issue that warning, I would also be curious as to why not. Personally, however, I do not need such a warning, because I always keep a close eye on my plugin count.
