Fallout 4 Crash every time I go near certain places

Tenpines Bluff has never given me problems. In a variety of playthroughs ranging from 100 to 200 mods, I have never experienced a Tenpines Bluff CTD. Yesterday, in a brand new playthrough, I returned in triumph to Tenpines Bluff to announce the extermination of the Corvega Raider ne'er-do-wells. I then moved on to Sanctuary to announce to good ole Preston ("bless his heart," as we say in my part of the world) that the Tenpines folk were now in good hands.

Back to the OP's problem. He's probably got a mod or mods that break something in the Tenpines Bluff cell. I don't know which mods they would be. OP is now presented with a learning opportunity that will make him a more informed mod user!

the load order is one hot mess. there are allsorts of clothing mods and christ knows what else and right in the middle is a mod that removes all npc's from the world.

this is nothing to do with vortex and everything to do with someone who has gone mod-blind and downloaded and installed dozens of mods without understanding what they're doing, or what they're trying to do.

Augusta, do you use any Scrap Mods? Like Scrap Everything or Spring Cleaning?

No. I've stayed away from both those mods out of worries about breaking precombines and/or previs.

used them once, a long time ago. did some research after a game i played for ages basically ground to a halt. never used them since. what i do now is build around dirt piles and make them part of the settlement.

i see lovely crafted settlements out there that are pristine, and look amazing, but i wonder about the performance you'll get from them.

When I get back to playing, after purging a lot of mods that have become bloated, I'll try to lighten my mod load by a lot.

Too many really good mods out there require some mods I don't care to use anymore for simplicity sake, so I'll have to expunge them and find alternatives, or edit my own personalized 'branches' that remove requirements, or maybe just use older versions of said mods.

I'll probably try a bare bones setup and see if I can stand it or not.

I do have a heavily edited AWKCR to remove all the icons from it, that also works with DEF_UI, but I might just back them up and start from scratch.

I'll bet that's my, and OP's problem with Tenpines then.

I do use Scrap Everything and yesterday, I finished Tempines Bluff quest and I scrapped some things at that place. I've never had any problem with that cell at all.

However, I've never use Spring Cleaning or whatever that is. My only scrapping mod is Scrap Everything and at the FOMOD installer, I do not pick any of things offered, like Sprint, etc, etc, ( I do not remember but there are that you can choose in the installation process ).

Why do you think that the OP's issue is just at that particular cell please ? Interesting, can you explain ?

I have not been able to play the game to the end due to the issues I have been having, I guess I will now educate myself concerning what the mod involves and and be more selective, scrap everything mod could my culprit because of another mod that has some kind of conflict maybe. I hope this thread continues to unfold more information. cheers
