Muskets DO fit in Skyrim!!!

Dont forget you two that (if you played the morrowind and oblivion) there have been comments from people who despise anything magic related by them making simple comments here and there. So in essence we could say that someone (who didnt like magic) came up with the idea to make something anyone could use to counter the magic user. Followed by the empire catching on thinking that if they cant get any battle mages out to the field where they need them the could do with muskets in order to help hold til a battlemage got there. As for an idea(and a bit lore friendly) the said person who made the musket could have been looking at history books of the first era and how redguards played a role and their cannons. figuring a smaller tube that could be carried would be more easier then having a large cannon to be tugged around

The "Why use a gun when you have Magic" thing is really more of an in-universe explination for why gunpowder hasn't caught on. Because of the economic state of Tamriel (everything is hand crafted, had mixed, hand job-ed etc. as opposed to mass produced and automated) one requires a rather substantial investment to produce even a single gun. It's not something you can do yourself, at home, with a few simple tools. Overall, from the point of leaders, it's easier and cheaper just to have Mages around, which means there is no drive to develop firearms, save for from the riff-raff, who lack the means to do it themselves anyway.

do me a favour and go take a look around skyrim, were are all the mages? there all in the collage, we will find a good storyline to work this it will become real, whether people like the guns or not. personally im a mage not a gunman, but it will be nice to see something modern in skyrim, that look in place and real

and anyone that wants to help with quests please do, the quest to this and the story line needs a lot of work, we can all sit and brainstorm

And yet, each Jarl employs a court wizzard instead of a gunsmith. Again, its easier for the people in power, and those with money, to turn to magic than technology.

An alternative, of course, is the Orcs. They do, in fact, do everything they can by themselves. Their craftsmen and alchemists, distrust magic, and have a penchant for violence. Their homeland also borders on Hammerfell, so they are likely familiar, at least in concept, with the Redguard cannon. After the destruction of Orsimmer, the Orcs could be looking for a way to tip the ballance, what with their general avoidance of magic.

Muskets, as in flintlock or matchlock dont fit as well as other firearms would. The Dwemer Rifle mod does a good job of adding projectile weapons without breaking lore, as for a non dwemer firearm only a 10 - 12th century hand cannon would be fitting. I have offered to make such a mod, however I have came across several issues involving Nif to Blender porting as my maya seat has been revoked (Long story short I was on a team but the team dissolved). If I can figure out how to port from Blender Object to Nif I can (and will) continue my modding.

It doesnt exactly have to be lore safe as long as someone will play it(just stating what the mod said earlier) so maybe when making this mod make it possibly with two seperate downloads one with an older style gun that could be lore safe and another download that would contain the muskets and such so that way itll appeal to both sides of lore players and those that break from lore

The thing is as mush as I like making other people happy Im not going to spend hours on weapons I wont use. That said I have permission from Dogtown to use his Flintlock Rifle model, it is a very good model however there is an issue with it that I can not fix (for now) in the dds. I will upload a version of that rifle when I am able to port blender and nif.

Well, we would introduce the musket as an innovation in Tamriel, so they would not yet have the reputation as to earn a place in the courts of princes. I agree with you in that tamrielic people with power will always turn to magic, because magic, as it appears in TES is a match for nuclear weaponry, it easily overpowers gunpowder. But not everyone has the talent of magic, an those without such talent would turn to technology. Also, states can't just teach destruction spells to entire divisions of their armies, so guns and gunpowder would definitely have place in Tamrielic military.

I disagree, Dwemer technology could easily develop matchlock guns, so if a tamrielic human artificer examined and copied the design of a Dwemer firearm, the result would not be a yellow dwemer inscribed instrument of war, but instead a weapon crafted by human methods and styled with human fashion, only using an instance of the Dwemer matchlock mechanism. It would pretty much resemble an arquebus, or a musket.

though me being me, would be quite able to build places like shooting ranges and add a court gunsmith to everything if people so desired

That is an interesting view on the concept. I am going from a pure nord invention perspective which would lead to a hand cannon. Having both would lead to optimal lore (For me at least). The recently released Aethernautics mod has a few very nice rifles which are Dwemer. Most of these people should look towards those until a modder or team of modders put the weapons together.

You'll have to get permission from the creators but i was thinking if you did add gun troops to the cities and empire, id look around so far these caught my eye on what you could have the troops look like (the armor style anyway)

Iron armor by defunkt

and

Scout armor by DoODABoOM

and finally one i havent looked for yet but came up as an idea while i was figuring armor wise is a modified dawnguard armor since in a way if worked correctly in real life you could probably survive being hit with a round by wearing that.
