Nope... This time it's going to be a wait and see... I will not be per-ordering. I am actually worried about it being money grab, micro-transaction on-line screw-up. I don't see Beth wanting to make another Skyrim better, more beautiful, more advanced game mechanics, and more advanced AI. No, I see them going for the money. Yes I know companies are in it for the money, you have to make money, but you should also make the games people want.

Just my opinion.

Micro transactions in an offline game? (I suppose TES6 will stay offline?)

Im looking forward to it, less because I expect Bethesda to do a good job. I mean how many of us actually play "Skyrim"

Most of us use mods en mass, I only have about 80 .esps and the only thing that is still there from the original skyrim is skyrim itself (the world youre playing in; dungeons and paths etc)

Im using a custom body

Im using custom animations and outfits

Im playing a vampire with sacrosanct, so my race is basically custom

Im using Ordinator, meaning the skill system isnt the same either

Im using AGO which changes the vanilla bow system quite a bit

Im using a few texture replaces and blues skyrim and winterhold restored, no vanilla cities

List could go on and Im sure a lot here changed the game in a simliar way. In the end Bethesda just doesnt have to make a step backwards, everything else is done by modders, as it has always been I guess

So you think Bethesda will still allow (free/out-of-bethesda.net) modding?

You are a very optimistic person.

There is no way they will kill off the open modding community that has essentially allowed them to rake in truckloads of money from the Elder Scrolls series by forcing closed modding environment. That is like killing the goose who has been laying the golden eggs for the last 20 years.

I´m a bit worried and will wait and see... with the "dumbing-down" of FO¤ and the spectacular dumpster fire that is ´76 I´m more than a bit sceptical of the prospect of me buying anymore Beth games, as of now they "only" screw up my Skyrim on an irregular basis with thier damned CC.. but i expect any new game from them will be CC mods only and then ? I´ll leave them to die...

I feel they should keep TESO as the money grabber, keep updating it and keep the new TES IV as a non-online dependant mod-able game. though the idea of playing with your friends sounds great I dont want it to compromise any of the functionality of the game that we love today, morrowind, oblivion, and skyrim have been excellent examples of how a great game can be and how it can bring together large communities even with all its bugs (especially for all its bugs lol)

the fact is that how many people actually play the game 8 years later for the sake of revisiting those vanilla dreamscapes (I'm sure there are a few, but thats what older-gen consoles are for LMAO).. most people whether dirty or clean have some type of mod they always wanted to try, if bethesda ruins the capabilities of our modding community then i see chaos and riots in our future! ;D

My 2 cents

  • 2 weeks later...

6 years away?? lolo! Wow man, then it's not even a thought on my mind! I'm learning to mod Skyrim SE, and imho, that gives me plenty of time to learn modding (to a degree) for SSE and know that there'll be plenty of time, to make mods for my all time Fav game!!! ;)
