Vortex Auto sorting

Recommended Posts

I have a problem with my mod load order and it refuses any of my attempts to fix it even when using 3rd party programs like LOOT and others. Don't tell me that LOOT is integrated because when I actually run LOOT it properly sorts my load order but then when I refresh in LOOT Vortex has already ass raped my load order again auto sorting/refusing to move even with auto sort turned off.

I have no cycles/loops and no rules to speak of outside properly set rules. Can someone explain to me why Vortex is shafting me? Because I can't use TES5Edit due to this issue.

Thanks.

Oh and when I try to manually add a rule under the plugins tab and it tells me specifically which ones need it, when I press the add button it doesn't do jack s***, flip button works fine though. What's up with that?

LOOT is integrated in Vortex. If LOOT orders differently than Vortex that means you have set it up differently, maybe you have customized rules in LOOT or Vortex that affect your load order.

Or you're using a wildly outdated version of LOOT when run separately.

But that LOOT provides the load order in Vortex is a fact, what's the point in ignoring it?

Exactly, I don't. It's very stable and I'm extremely happy with how my game is running but despite this it blocks me from using TES5Edit, granted I found a work around and when I launch Vortex it restores it to its previous stable state which disallows me from using TES5Edit.

I think if I reinstalled everything I might find the issue but there are no issues at all in game and i've solved every mod conflict and using this work around I found just today is all I need.

The fact I can't manually add rules even though Vortex tells me to because the button is broken is a little cancerous though.

You started this thread by claiming that Vortex "refuses" to let you fix your load order issue, now suddenly we're talking about it "disallowing" you from using tes5edit and the button (what button???) being broken.

I hope you're not actually expecting help because if you don't post what actual error message you're getting there is no real help anyone could provide, everyone could just "guess".

Just to clarify: other users are able to add rules, successfully sort their mods and run tes5edit. These things aren't generally impossible and I'm not aware of any concrete problems with any of these.

If you're having a problem there it may be a bug but we're not going to be able to find or fix it based on "it disallows me".

Vortex isn't a person that arbitrarily chooses to disallow things.

You can only ADD a rule when you have a mod selected in each drop down

See those two "SELECT PLUGIN..." drop downs at the bottom?

They BOTH need to have a mod name in them, otherwise the ADD button will not activate.

Also, you can use TESEdit5 just fine in Vortex, I have TWO instances of FO4Edit set up in my Dashboard, on to run as normal, and the other to run with the "-PseudoESL -FO4" command line for converting ESPs to ESLs

The people who have trouble doing stuff like this in Vortex, usually never read the built-in Knowledge Base articles, such as "Tool Setup: xEdit" (xEdit = FO4Edit, TES5Edit, SSEEdit etc)

Here's my TARGET and START IN PATHS for xEdit (I have my xEdits in my old NMM\Game Tools\ folder for convenience and because I haven't made just a GAME TOOLS directory yet out of laziness.)

TARGET - D:\Games\Nexus Mod Manager\Game Tools\Fallout 4\FO4Edit\FO4Edit.exe

START IN - D:\Games\Nexus Mod Manager\Game Tools\Fallout 4\FO4Edit

It will be the same for TES5Edit as well

TARGET - D:\Games\Nexus Mod Manager\Game Tools\Skyrim\TES5EditFO4Edit\TES5Edit.exe

START IN - D:\Games\Nexus Mod Manager\Game Tools\Skyrim\TES5Edit
