TheLionHearted27
@1ae0bfb8 Please do not respond to my post anymore. You are not a nice person, you are very rude. Your condescending tone is very disrespectful, I do not care about anything you have to say and will ignore any further responses from you. @BigBizkit I'm struggling with two things right now. Mod Staging folder and Download folder. I don't understand the difference. For Mod Staging folder this is my path; G:\Vortex\Mods, and for my Download Folder this is my path; G:\GAMES\The Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt\Mods. Not sure if this is correct. It seems to be letting me use those paths thought.

DOWNLOAD FOLDER - Where the stuff goes when you press DOWNLOAD WITH MOD MANAGER, those are the packaged, zipped up, mod ARCHIVES MOD STAGING FOLDER - Where Vortex (just like NMM) extracts the MOD ARCHIVES from the DOWNLOAD FOLDER, and puts them into proper extracted folders, then creates the HARDLINKS, that make them show up in the GAME DATA FOLDER There's built in HELP that explains these things, but you already posted that even the built in HELP offends you because you see it as "Condescending", instead of as HELP. AugustaCalidia
@HTR There's built in HELP that explains these things, but you already posted that even the built in HELP offends you because you see it as "Condescending", instead of as HELP. For many in these Vortex forums, "condescending" is an au courant term for expressing dissatisfaction with a forum response or even the Vortex informational helps, as you point out. In many cases, however, the offended parties use that term simply to mask a mistake called out or a failure to understand the instructional materials. BigBizkit
The download folder is the folder where all the mod archives you download are stored. It can be anywhere you like. Your mod staging folder, however, is the folder where Vortex unpacks and installs your mods. Once installed "deployment" is what creates the links to your game folder i.e. it is only after deployment that mods actually start affecting your game. Breaking mod installation down into those two parts allows you to quickly switch between enabling and disabling a given mod and keeps your game's mod folder clean after "undeploying" (which we call "purging"). If you are using the deployment method "hardlink" deployment (which is the default for many games) then your mod staging folder needs to be somewhere on the same partition as your game, otherwise it won't be eligible as a deployment method (which Vortex will tell you about). I can see how that could be confusing if you are unfamiliar with the concept and I hope that clears things up for you.

sendal
I wasnt strugglin' so much with Vortex. I just installed it (version that allows to change folders) & spent like 5 minutes just trying to setup download & mod folders:Vortex said that I cant use folders that contain any other folders... ok ....Then I've tryed to set E:/MODs/Vortex/dl as download folder and E:/MODs/Vortex/mods as ... mods folder. Looks like simple enough to manage... right? But Vortex said again that folder must be empty ............................ (it was empty & recreated again)Vortex said that there is problem with mod deployment & in the end of solution it suggested to run/use admin rights, so I've tryed it ......After choosing & launching app with admin rights the message window appeared & was telling me that launching app with admin rights making "things even wosrt" ..... huh ?I launched vortex w/o admin rights once again & it asked me to change mod download folder, so i did E:/MODs/Vortex/dl. Seems that worked....Vortex said that there is problem with mod deployment ....... I've tryed to set folder E:/MODs/Vortex/modsEven while the folder was recreated again & was empty Vortex said that it is not..///// I've uninstalled Vortex.By simple logic folders that I wanted to setup should look likeE:/MODs/Vortex/_____________mods/__________________{games}_____________dl/_______________{games} to just have set everything in order. Vortex didn't allowed me to do like that. I do not see point of continue using that tool in this case. & regular version with autochoosing folders is not an option b'cos my main gaming drive space is limited & only games allowed to be there.I know there is mess in my explanation, but that like how things gone in my case. Something is wrong with that app & I hope someday it would be better...It didnt even get to point where I would actually apply mods to my games, things that Ive done huge amount of times with old Wry Bash/FoMM/OMM/NMM... rmm200
The file structure you show is fine - as long as your games are also on E:.It does not matter where downloads are, but the mods folder has to be on the same partition as the game.To figure out your directory problems we will need more information. Start here:https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/7332636-how-to-post-request-support-for-vortex/ And you would have been better off starting your own topic... BoundByMoonsilver
Legacy is unironically better, all you had to do was copy its design.
