WhitesnakeWASP91
I had the same thing happen to me today. I closed Vortex and got the message asking me if I want to allow Vortex to make changes. Not thinking about it too much I clicked "yes" and shut down my PC afterward. When I booted my PC back up later and wanted to start Vortex, the desktop and taskbar shortcuts had gone blank and when I clocked on them I got a message telling me that the file the shortcut linked to couldn't be found. I checked my AV software and found nothing in the logs or in quarantine. Reinstalling Vortex fixed the problem. Edit: I just noticed that there was a new update released today. Maybe something went wrong with that?
HadToRegister
Edit: I just noticed that there was a new update released today. Maybe something went wrong with that? Most likely. You should set Auto Update to only update on STABLE Releases SETTINGS---------->VORTEX-----------UPDATE------> options are STABLE, TESTING, and NO AUTOMATIC UPDATES

danoid67
Add me to the ditto list. Running Win7 Ultimate, MSE. Reinstalled but not everything went smooth. Morrowind is giving me 'Application load error p:0000065432'
danoid67
Tried to make a bug report #4637 and it was closed as too little information. I included a log file. There is no more information. I DID NOTHING OTHER THAN WAKE UP AND START THE GAME - VORTEX WAS GONE.
Tannin42
a) No, you didn't include a log file. This is everything your report contained: "Booted this morning. No Vortex. Reinstalled with latest download. Morrowind is still broken." b) As I explained before, Vortex can't delete itself, no application can delete itself, that's not possible. It may try to update itself and then that update may fail for whatever reason but Vortex can't possibly run when Vortex gets deleted meaning it's not our software doing the deleting and thus our log isn't going to include anything enlightening anyway. danoid67
My apologies. I thought I had attached the log. I thought I pressed the button to attach the log and some text showed up. In any case the latest update is not functioning and reverting to the older version Vortex-1-1-3-4-1599647954.exe has less functionality (Morrowind) than yesterday. If I allow the Vortex update it fails with no messages and it's no longer a valid COM32 application. So for me, things are broke. Morrowind launches in Steam. And it's hard to report what you did when you didn't do anything.
PaxGaribaldi
Same thing for me. Vortex somehow deleted itself. Shortcut reports target does not exist. Looking in the Vortex folder shows all (presumably) files there plus three folders with files in them, all except the executable. So I found the old install - Vortex-1-1-2-20-1595837664.exe - from about a month ago. I double clicked it and it reinstalled itself and started the application up automatically. O.O Seems to be no loss of data. The downloads from yesterday are still in there. Mods and plugins all appear to be there and active. Will test in game next. But before that I just checked the install folder. Vortex and uninstall vortex are now in there. O.O (they were - not - in there just a few mintues ago ! O.O before I clicked on the old install) Even more strangely: With install dates of 23 JUL O.O ... which is probably when I originally installed it (yes pretty new to Vortex) and that date matches all the other install dates in the folder O.O Starting to feel like I am in the twilight zone. pogobat
I also had a similar issue on a 2019 Macbook Pro running Windows 10 home via Bootcamp. Booted up yesterday and Vortex shortcut had blank icon and would not open, original app file also wouldn't run (forgot the exact error message though). I assumed the auto-update failed as it was trying to run the last time I shutdown - maybe didn't exit the install before shutting down? Anyways I tried to reinstall the latest 9/11 v.1.3.8 again manually. Vortex runs, redeployed, then got to the Skyrim SE start screen, but CTD before I could even attempt to load a new/saved game. Rolled back to Vortex 1.3.6 and everything is running OK again..?.?.

It also happened to me after I shut down my PC. I probably didn't realize that the auto-update was happening and shut down my PC while Vortex was updating which probably caused it not to install the update correctly.
