Our internet connection allows me about 3.4 seconds before it dies. Cloudflare hates me

I ban @zixi because the internet device you have must be worn out.  Time to take it in for a new shiny new one.

I ban @Oblivionaddicted for making have to think about Mass Effect 2, today.

I ban @zixi's internet connection.  Time to reboot the modem and router, maybe, if you haven't tried it yet?  (Unplug them or switch off their power for a minute or two, then power them back on.)

I forgot the closing parenthesis ) -- and the "if you haven't tried it yet"

@AaronOfMpls - We're ex-computer scientists but unfortunately we're used to having (extremely good) technicians following us around.  😁 The connection here is ADSL - we're in the countryside and there isn't a proper fibre connection here... apparently it does go to somewhere locally now so we're hoping to sort it... perhaps... maybe... But this last week or so it's been particularly awful. I've sometimes managed to laugh at people's comments but little else!

So, you're banned for being sensible and helpful!

@zixi ah!  If you have a phone line connected broadband ADSL than it could be your LAN cable is being bashed by higher and lower frequency signals that are interfering with your LAN cable's frequency.  A local  H.A.M. Operators used to cause my ADSL problems when he was broadcasting and surfing channels.

Here's a test to find out.

Get any extra LAN Cable.  You need to make it into a coil wrapped around and around from the top of your other LAN cable that is straight.  You are going to coil another from the modem to the computer.

Start by making the extra LAN Cable stay at the end of the active cable you plugged in. Just near the active plug for the Modem so it hangs there..  Don't plug the coiled one in, just make the loose one's plug an inch from the end of the active LAN Cable.

It doesn't have to be tightly coiled.  Just Coil the LAN cable from the modem end around and around that wire all the way to the other end.

Not tight like that snake on the doctors stick symbol.  Loosely wrap the Inactive LAN Cable around until you get it near the other end, tie is so all does unravel or slide up or down.  Keep that LAN Cable so the coil doesn't slip at either end.

I saw a YT video showing how to do it.

It will might be like a resistor keeping higher and lower frequencies from interfering with your active LAN Cable getting rid of what's called NOISE.

I ban @Pagafyr for not banning anyone. 😜

(Also, I'll have to remember that coil thing if I'm ever on ADSL myself someday.  Been on co-ax cable internet in one place or another since 2000.)

I ban @Drakefell01 mistaking co-ax for cop.

Yah, coaxial cable (aka co-ax or coax) -- specifically RG-6 -- is what's commonly used for cable and satellite TV.  Cable TV companies deliver internet service through it, too.

Though now I also ban the cable companies for being monopolistic donkeyholes in so many places. 🤑

(Not gonna ban @Drakefell01 for being one of today's 10,000, if he didn't know what co-ax is.)
