Rainestehderp
I'm new to vortex, figured I would try it out since I just got Oblivion. I'm really used to NMM and after some pathing errors I finally got everything back to normal. Except now I am getting an error that says "Mods Can't Be Deployed". When clicking fix I go to Hardlink Deployment and all it says is "Game not fully initialized yet, this should disappear soon." I don't know what this means as Vortex is pretty foreign to me. Am i just supposed to wait? I haven't tried installing mods yet, I have just been trying to get the pathing to work which was it's own headache. Is there something I'm just not getting here? Tannin42
The error means that either the game directory or the vortex staging folder can't be read. The game directory can't be missing or Vortex wouldn't allow you to activate it in the first place. The staging folder automatically this could only cause the error for a couple of seconds immediately after you first switch vortex to the game. If the error actually persists beyond a few seconds after you started something weird is going on on your system like permission problems. This may be connected to "I have just been trying to get the pathing to work" which - what do you mean by that?On a vanilla system you could install the game, install Vortex and everything would work out of the box, every problem you have is in some way related to your specific system setup. I'm not saying it's necessarily your own fault but to help you we need to know in detail what you "customized" about your system. Also it might help if you send in a feedback from inside Vortex (top-right menu) and include the vortex log (there is a button for that on the feedback screen.) Rainestehderp
I had a few problems with the pathing from trying to set what folder to put my mods in, after this just completely broke I uninstalled and reinstalled everything, that seemed to fix that. I still got the same "Mods can't be deployed" error. I don't have a "vanilla" system as I built my pc. The error seems to be gone for now, but it persisted for about 4 hours. I'm not sure what caused it, but it appears to be working now. I will actually try putting some mods on after I sleep
HadToRegister
Because Oblivion is so old, a LOT of the mods aren't going to work with modern mod managers due to the way they are packaged.Oblivion was released about the time in the modding world, were mods were just starting to develop standards for zipping them up so they could be easily installed, but this was coming off the heels of Manually Installing everything.Oblivion is basically a 'snapshot' in the evolution between manually installing and using a mod manager.about 1/3 of the mods you download will be packaged in BAIN, for WryeBashAnother 1/3 will be packaged in OMOD, for OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager)And the remaining 1/3 will just be zipped up with no structure, because they were meant to be installed manually.I wrote a pretty lengthy post about my adventure with Converting mods for oblivion and vortex.
