How to get sseedit to point to correct SSE install through Vortex

Okay first off I'm relatively new to mods just fyi. Okay I have 2 installs of SSE one is in the default ProgramFiles(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common etc. The other is in C:\Games\SteamLibrary\Skyrim <--this is the one I mod I have installed everything through vortex. But when I set up SSEEdit via the add tool menu in the vortex dashboard it keeps loading the default installation. Is there a way to point it to the modded install?

Strange as it may sound - this is not a Vortex question - if I understand you correctly.

You pointed the Vortex dashboard SSEEdit shortcut to the SSEEdit executable in the Games tree.

That is the one that will run.

SSEEdit has it's own method of finding the game. It apparently is finding the one pointed to by the Windows registry.

Your results should be the same if you stop Vortex and launch SSEEdit from the game directory directly.

If it actually is a shortcut problem, and it is executing the wrong copy of SSEEdit, we can help with that. Let us know.

Ya I guess you're right, it would technically be an sseedit issue. & yes I do have the "target" and "start in" inputs filled out. Hmm I guess what I really need to find out is if there is a command I can put in sseedit's command line parameters in the shortcut to achieve this, since there really isn't an installation process with sseedit.

You don't need a command line

Hopefully you're not putting your Skyrim Special Edition Directory as your START IN path.

Your START IN path will always be the SAME path as the EXE of the tool.

I have SSE installed in D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\

and I have SSEEdit installed in D:\Games\Nexus Mod Manager\Game Tools\SkyrimSE\SSEEdit\SSEEdit.exe

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My TARGET and START IN paths in vortex are like this

TARGET - D:\Games\Nexus Mod Manager\Game Tools\SkyrimSE\SSEEdit\SSEEdit.exe

START IN - D:\Games\Nexus Mod Manager\Game Tools\SkyrimSE\SSEEdit
