Why is vortex so confusing?

I could use NMM without reading a book, I don't understand why Vortex throws all these options at me that I don't understand. I'm not a programmer. If you show me a "cycles" grid, I don't know what I'm looking at. I don't know what to load before or after (I use LOOT for that), and I can't manage file overwrites or specific options (like just pine trees skin from a mod from the list I'm using on https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1089?tab=description).

I wish they'd release a more user friendly interface that just does what the old NMM without a lot of confusing technojargon :/

There's nothing stopping you from going back to NMM. It's maintained and updated here: https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Nexus-Mod-Manager/releases.

Can I associate that with download links from the site, or will it still open vortex? Seems like Nexus is pushing vortex, but its not very user friendly or intuitive, and liked the old system better.

Yes. You'll find the details at the GitHub site.

Seems like Nexus is pushing vortex

Of course Nexus Mod is "pushing" Vortex. They spent a lot of time, effort, and money developing a mod manager with features and capabilities far beyond NMM. Vortex is the finest mod manager I've used in my twelve years of modding games.

I'm guessing you designed it to be such a vociferous defender? I mean I glanced at some of your posts and you don't seem very open to feedback, no matter how polite.

Neither Augusta nor myself work for the company making Vortex.

We are just users of Vortex who like it enough to try to help others.

If you want to submit feedback, do it through the tools provided in Vortex, not through us.

We will unashamedly correct falsification of facts as we encounter them. And there are a lot.

You weren't giving feedback, and you weren't polite, you were complaining because you don't want to bother reading or learning anything, while incorrectly believing that NMM has been 'done away with', when all you had to do was scroll down about an inch more on the Vortex download page and download NMM, that other Mod Manager that gives people the freedom to have unknown file conflicts, wrongly sorted Esps, and random CTDs in their game.

Your attack on Augusta was uncalled for, she answered your questions promptly, succinctly and clearly, she just didn't join in your little Vortex Bashing Party like you had hoped.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll quickly figure out how to re-associate NXM links to work with NMM.

Vortex broke my game. It CTD at main screen. It didn't use to before. As far as Im' concerned thats a failure. And yeah glanced at some of the threads and the self righteous indignation at people daring to speak up about Vortex was amusing.

Sure it did.

95% of the problems so far in here, with Vortex are because of User Error.

The complaints are always purposely vague so the user doesn't have to admit that they did something wrong, so instead they say "Vortex broke my game"

If you had come in here from the start and told us the problem, we most likely would've told you that a CTD right at the main screen is usually a Missing Master.

But, you decided to complain.

EVERYTHING in your initial post, that you "don't understand how to do", is in the very BASIC Beginner Tutorial.

This is why you responded thusly, because you showed everybody that you spent about 5 minutes with Vortex, and when you met the smallest amount of resistance, decided to wax lyrical about the good old days with NMM, and vaguely accuse Vortex of shortcomings because of your refusal to learn how it works.

Oh, and if you notice the 'self righteous indignation' as you call it, it's because of posts exactly like yours, you know, where the person refuses to even bother learning absolute beginner stuff
