New to Mods and want to know what are the "best"

I had Skyrim on the 360 but the glitches ended up breaking my save file with 80 hours into it...I wasn't going to restart. When I saw all the mods for the PC version and got the itch to play again, I bought the PC game....but my mind is overloaded with all the different mods and some not being compatible with others and such. So I am hoping people could tell me what mods are "worth" it?

Basically, I am looking for graphic enhancing ones. I have seen some for HD, smother female/male models and faces, changing the underwear and bra designs for females, realistic water, changing the moon, enhancing the villages. I also have seen some unofficial patches for Skyrim and the two DLCs. So which ones should I choose? I also would like one that helps with the map, locating the masks and those jewels (forget their name).

Finally, I thought I had read some where there were mods that make you look like Lightning, Cloud, Seph, etc. but I never found any of them.

And of course, if anyone has any other ones they would recommend that would be great!

Thanks!

Well there are to many tastes in mods and to many mods for anyone to make a "must have list" but this are some of the ones I love and would recommended.

Build Your Own Home Is WAY better then harthfire.

SkyUI Makes the UI more PC friendly.

Immersive Armors doubles the number of armors in game (I believe) whats more you will never know the armors are mod added.

JaySuS Swords The same as Immersive Armors only it's for swords.

A Quality World Map - With Roads needs High Quality 3D Map like the name says it adds a better map witch helps a lot when you're trying to find your way.

ApachiiSkyHair Adds way more hair. Some hairs may not be lore friendly but still a grate mod.

Run For Your Lives Makes all those town people run from dragons helps prevent dragons from wiping out all the NPCs.

Skyrim Monster Mod The same as Immersive Armors only it's for monsters. Also look in it's recommended mods section.

and Unofficial Skyrim Patch fixes bugs and thats always good right?

PS. You might want to look into Wrye Bash

(1) It makes it safe to try out new mods because it will restore everything to the way it was when you uninstall a mod

(2) It makes more mods compatible with each other by importing information from different mods into a "bashed patch"

(3) It allows you to exceed the 255 mod threshold by automatically merging mods for you

And Boss (boss sorts your mods load order so certain mods don't make the game crash).

Hop on over to Skyrim Nexus, click on the "Files" tab and then select "Top Files". There you will find all the mods ranked the highest by the community; that's probably the best place to start. However, you can also go to the "Categories" section and pick a category that interests you. Once that's done you can chose to list the mods by endorsements and find what the best mods are within that category. Skyrim Nexus, as well as the others, is a treasure trove of mods ranging from the best the community has to offer, all the way to the worst.

Good luck and welcome to the community!

"Lore Friendly" mods are mods that stick to the lore of Skyrim and the Elder Scrolls games as a whole. For example, if you add an armor to the game, say master chiefs armor from Halo, then that would not be a lore friendly mod because Master Chief has nothing to do with the Elder Scrolls world and lore. However, if you add some Viking armor and weapons, then that may be considered Lore friendly because it matches the style and vibe that Bethesda intended.

BOSS is a sorting tool used to sort your mods into a proper load order so that you can avoid mod conflicts. It's updated regularly and is an invaluable tool to those that are installing mods for the first time and are not well versed in sorting mods them selves.

When browsing new mods, this is what I do to find what mods are generally considered 'good' by others. "Top 25 files" and when you click on a category when browsing, sort by number of endorsements a mod has.

I really enjoy immersive, lore-friendly mods so I am going to recommend Frostfall, Basic Needs, Interesting NPCs, and Tales of Lycanthropy ( a werewolf overhaul).
