M48A5
Have you tried eBay? That's where I got a Windows 7 disc for less than $30.00USD.
JimboUK
You might be able to upgrade for free, there are reports that Windows 7 keys still work for Windows 10. https://www.zdnet.com/article/heres-how-you-can-still-get-a-free-windows-10-upgrade/ https://wccftech.com/how-to/upgrade-windows-7-download-windows-10-free/
HeyYou
Yep, you download the media creation tool, feed it a usb drive, let it do it's thing, and you can use that to upgrade your windows 7 machine to windows 10. I highly recommend uninstalling any antivirus software you have running before doing so, (especially Microsoft Security Essentials) as they can cause issues with the upgrade. Even without them, the upgrade sometimes fails, for one reason or another. I do this every day at work, so, I know it works. :D
niphilim222
I did some research you need to buy the key before you can go on to upgrading to the latest version. They sell for cheap on Amazon right now, 11$ for a pro version lifetime key. https://www.amazon.ca/Wíndоws-Professional-Download-Lifetime-Activation/dp/B07M9VX6W8/ref=sr_1_18?keywords=windows+10+pro&qid=1573786241&sr=8-18I might need a new ssd for the upgrade though. Waiting for black Friday this year, so i can at least save my older ssd for Windows 7 if i need it. Deleted54170User
Oh! Can not see why I didn't read your link when I first saw it. Just me! Growling under my breath at the loss of a bunch of licensed software they took down when theu gave us the Free Windows 10 Upgrade. And your The Last Poster Win post just made me growl again. I've got good reason to be upset about losing those licenses; several $hundred of them.

In fact, you can do a fresh install of 10, and use your windows 7 key to activate it. (must be same version though. Home/Pro) Won't work for server or enterprise editions. I know this for a fact. I do it every day.
niphilim222
Sorry for doubting you HeyYou, but i can i did what you told me and it worked, instead of wasting money on a lifetime key for windows 10. I might buy one for the future anyways, 11$ for a lifetime key. That means you can use it over and over again, just in case of virus's.
Skyjesterus
Win 7 isn't going anywhere, MS is simply ceasing support for it. It'll be my last MS operating system, since it's the last MS OS that doesn't give them legal rights to monitor and record our every keystroke and mouse movement. Win 10 was built from the ground up as a data miner, just like Chrome. Due to a 95% monopoly on the world's desktop computers imo MS will eventually be legally forced to release Win 7 to the public domain. You may not believe it now, wait until the support actually stops. A substantial portion of the computing world will refuse to join the ranks of legitimized privacy rape. Then windows gets offended. :) According to theory, if you change the system board, windows will want a new key. Though, it DOES ask you if you have made hardware changes to your machine. I haven't gone down that road yet, so, don't know just how picky it is. :) Win 7 isn't going anywhere, MS is simply ceasing support for it. It'll be my last MS operating system, since it's the last MS OS that doesn't give them legal rights to monitor and record our every keystroke and mouse movement. I ran Windows XP for years after support stopped. I turned off updates on Win 7 back when MS was pushing Win 10 so hard. I got tired of seeing it, so removed everything relating to it, turned off updates, and never looked back. Recently, that machine died, and I updated to newer hardware, and HAD to run win 10, as the hardware has no support for win 7. Bummer. For the telemetry that win 10 wants to collect, you can turn most of it off. There is even a script out there that gets more of it than is obvious. "Reclaim Windows 10". And yeah, the whole 'farm our users for data we can sell' is really pretty low. But, it's microsoft, so, I don't really expect morally upright behavior from them. To then, its all about the money. (sell your data, targeted advertising, etc.) Even the solitaire suite for win 10 is chock full of advertising. That REALLY annoyed me. So, I went and found windows 7 games for windows 10 instead. Works perfect.
