niphilim222
Only reason I'm upgrading is for games and Directx 12. Other then that i might keep my Windows 7 ssd for when i give up on Windows 10. I have to upgrade anyways because of my 2700 8 core 16 thread cpu ain't liking me using the ps2 ports on the back of the motherboard. Remember no support for ryzen otther then Ubuntu or Windows 10. HadToRegister
Windows 10 rendered my $500 8x8 professional firewire audio interface useless, as presonus refuses to write any drivers for Windows 10 after one Windows 10 update stopped the driver from workingMakes me mad, that I have a perfectly good piece of professional recording gear sitting here and the only thing from keeping it from working is a driver.I may have to build a Win 7 system, but finding hardware that still supports an older OS will be tough, and expensive. soupdragon1234
Not necessarily I have an Asus Z97-A mobo coupled with an i7 4790k thats the the last Intel generation that supports Win 7 afaik. Since I'll be forced onto Win 10 soon I'll be looking at a Ryzen 3900 or similar to go with it and the old board/chip will be pensioned off and probably for not much money. The fact that the mobo's USB 3.1 chipset died recently (USB 2.0 still works) shows its not immortal however (I bought both used so I can't complain really). Ryzen will be brand new however (unless used 3900's start appearing on the market in numbers after the 3950 is launched later this month, heres hoping). HeyYou
Sixth gen intel processors will still support win 7, 7th gen and up will not. I have also had some success with using windows 8 drivers under windows 10, and having them actually work. (run in compatibility mode for the install.) The government makes noise about breaking them up, but, they have been down that road before, and it turned out badly. I really don't expect anything to happen there.
