What I miss

hey all

I have just been thinking about what I miss about previous Elderscroll Games.

From Morrowind

individual weapons (ie. sword, short sword, battle hammer, battle axe, spear. all seperate skills)

Vampire clans (berne, quarra, aundae)

long quests

venders open 24/7

Vampires actually die in sunlight (I used Vampire Realism and Blood Lines, made it a real challenge to be a vampire)

From Oblivion

Ayleid Ruins, you would think they would be in Skyrim aswell, but nowhere to be seen. I miss the large ruins, getting lost in them, trying to avoid the traps

mage guilds and fighters guild in every city

post what you miss and maybe someone will add them to skyrim

Edit: I am aware that the individual weapons and armor pieces are a function of the game engine, but I still miss them

The Aleids, or Heartland High Elves, only inhabited the Heartland, or Cyrodiil. They were never in any other province, so it wouldn't be lore-correct for there to be Aleid Ruins in Skyrim. I'm rather sick of them to be honest because they all felt the same (as well as the fort ruins and caves) due to having but one dungeon designer. However I do agree with the rest of what you said. Mainly the very long quest's found in Morrowind.

from Morrowind:

  • Individual armor pieces. Left pauldron, right pauldron, left glove, right glove, right greave... Mix and match :P
  • Separate pants and shirts.
  • Also the ability to wear robes over your armor. I'm not hallucinating that, right? I really did walk around wearing Tarhiel's robes over my armor?
  • Taunting and bribing in normal conversation. The whole disposition thing, really. Seriously, everyone started out disliking you, fetcher here, n'wah there, outlander outlander everywhere... In Skyrim the whole province is your friend. Or they make snarky comments about carrying burdens and keeping your hands to yourself, but nothing changes.
  • Text-based dialogue. >> I'm a throwback, but I prefer to read my games, and the diversity and flexibility the text adds... It costs a whole lot less to write a lot more interesting dialogue than to have someone say it. Plus it's about a billion times easier to mod than having to worry about voice types and custom dialogue.
  • Ash storms. I remember being in Ald'ruhn and seeing the dust roll in and I was concerned...
  • Mushroom houses.
  • Seyda Neen.
  • Netches.
  • Edited to add: pretty clothing. >> Everything in Skyrim is either hideous or "cool", but not really... nice. Mostly hideous. Extravagant Morrowind clothes, now...

from Oblivion:

  • Age slider
  • Speechcraft 'game'. I was awesome at it :P ('Specially as my primary attribute was Personality. ^^ I was trying to get my guy built up high enough that his charisma stopped even animals from attacking him.)
  • Riding my unicorn :<

Lets get our "LORE" correct

Lore Accurate means "if it is not in Skyrim lore it cannot be"

Lore Friendly means "if it is in Elderscrolls Lore then it could have been or can be anywhere"

if Ayleid ruins were in Cyrodill (no signs of Ayleids, just the ruins), then it is possible they were also in Skyrim and Morrowind.

If you look at Skyrim, it is not Lore Accurate, it is Lore Friendly, Tiber Septum is portrayed as if he was a Nord, he was an Imperial (from Cyrodill) the septim line had Dragon Blood, but nothing about killing Dragons. The battle at Red Mountain (Morrowind lore) there were no shouts. I am sure there or more than I have mentioned

If they were ever located in Skyrim, then it's not recorded and has yet to be found out. We only currently know that there are currently no Ayleid ruins in skyrim due to the race being mostly concentrated in city-states in Cyrodiil. For instance, it was the Ayleids who built White Gold Tower that rests in the middle of the Imperial City, which had once been a great Ayleid Fort. Skyrim, then a kingdom of it's own, actually helped the human queen, St. Alessia, previously a slave of the Ayleids, to overthrow the Ayleids which drove them out of Cyrodiil. Now, from this we know they only inhabited the Heartland, they could have went into hiding in Skyrim unnoticed, but the devs have yet to add more lore about them for us to know.

All we know about them is that they were the first race to establish an empire in Tamriel, they lived in a tribal society with each tribe being different from the next, they established the Imperial City, enslaved humans, used remarkable magic, were overthrown, and then run out of the province. We have yet to find wherever they went, however it would be interesting to find out.

I feel the Bethesda leaves things like this open on purpose, so that modders can add them in.

Like the Snow Elves, there were appearantly only 2 left and you kill one in Dawn Guard, but it is also said that more might exist (but nothing more). so modders can use their imagination.

I am very thankfull that Bethesda leaves all of these things open, it fuels the imagination to what could have happened.

Edit:

Which reminds me. In Oblivion, you go to Sancre Tor to get the Armor and help the Ghosts and learn it used to be very important to the Blades, but nothing more.

Dark Rider is/was making an awesome mod called "Return to Sancre Tor" reclaiming the Blades home.

Not in the lore, but very possible and very Lore Friendly

Where was he ever portrayed as an Imperial? I've seen the Atmora, the Nord and the Breton theories but never the imperial one.

Portrayed as an Imperial, one because his ancestors were Imperials in Cryodil Martin SeptimUESP was Uriel Septim was UESP, So after playing Oblivion for years I asume that that Tiber Septim was Imperial also. It appears that he is not known as a Nord untill Skyrim.

The UESP doesn't say anything about his history untill Skyrim came out from what i could find.

I might be wrong, but with the past Elderscroll games it appears he was a Imperial.

enlighten me if I am mistaken
