Anyway to make game load faster with tons of mods (dumb question i know)

I'm just curious as I'm unsure if there is anyway I can speed up my load time. Every time I launch F4SE launcher, it takes like 3 minutes and my mouse turns into the 'program not responding' cursor (spinning circle) and after 3 minutes then I got like another 3 minutes of loading into my save.
I already have the load accelerator installed and it helps, but with as many mods as I do, is there any hope? Load order in spoiler

Simple Answer:

get a Solid State Drive - Put windows + Fallout + Mods on said drive.

Problem solved.

Long Answer:

3 minutes to load a save with only 113 mods, their is something seriously wrong their. especially since i would like to believe you have a powerful machine, since you are running the Ultra HD DLC which requires at least a GTX 1080 or equivalent. <-- if you however do not have a powerful machine that is atleast equilvent to a 1080, then the very first thing to remove would be said DLC. their is vastly superior alternatives that are much more friendly to all sorts of hardware, and looks vastly superior anyway, such as FlaconOil Texture Packs, Luxor8071 Texture Packs etc etc. both of which cover a large number of textures, and i recommend running both aio from both authors toghether to cover the vast majority of textures in the game.

their is 4 things that affect loading times

1. Scripts - Loading Saved Game Times

2. ENB - Game Bootup time

3. Harddrive - Both

4. CPU - Both

their is 1 thing that will destroy Loading times - and your game

1. Deleting Scripted Mods in an active Playthrough

just something to keep in mind.

now here is the difference. i have my fallout + windows on a Solid State drive + i am running 254 active ESP+ESM mods - which in total = 600 active mods which includes all additional mods that do not contain an esp or esm file, so texture (2k + 4k) mods, etc etc. i am only running 1 scripted mod, absolutely no cheese such as the so called load accelerators or the like, an SSD renders all of these so called game boosters redundant.

my game bootup time is 10 seconds (due to enb, without enb it is instant)

and loading times is around about 15 - 20 seconds

so this bit above is just to clarify why 3 minutes is very bad and presents a problem on its own,

which leads me to believe you dont have an SSD or a powerful computer or both, so their really is only that 1 solution, get an SSD they are fairly cheap and will give a massive boost to overall performance anyway.

or 2 remove scripted mods and start a new game.

or if you have in fact removed mods in an active playthrough, start again, as that will be the cause, and will present even more serious issues later on down the line.

Note: 3 Minute Loading times (Saved Game), sounds very much like Save Bloat, which if true, means your saved game is destined for Corruption (Long loading times is the least of your worries in that case).

Hey Roondog.

Yeah, in comparison to a lot of the gamers, you're really not running a LOT of mods. Really not that many, in comparison.

But, it's not always about quantity, but also how well the mods function, and also how well the get along with each other.

You're actually the first person that I've seen the that uses the high texture dlc.

I have to agree that I think it's one of the causes of your long loads.

I'm thinking it's that, and as game winner was saying, script bloat.

But I'm also wondering about your pc. It sounds like ur machine doesn't like to run this game.

What are ur specs, including version of windows?

I would love to know what hardware you are running the game on, including hdd type/specs.

According to what I have read, game loading is tied to framerate, so the load accelerator, which simply uncaps framereate while displaying a loading screen, actually works pretty good, even with a powerful machine, and a solid state drive. (because I am doing exactly that) Doesn't help with the Elevator loading though.....

Exclude your game folders from your virus scanner.

Steve brings up a very valuable point.

My gaming box doesn't even have a virus scanner, aside from windows defender. Anti virus/malware softwares are in a lot of cases, severely bloated goats, that use up a lot of system resources, and sometimes even more, depending on what settings that you have for them.

I've always been of the opinion that for games that are heavy, and don't require a network connection.... disable said network connection (turn off wifi or pull the network cable) and disable the antivirus software (if possible) while gaming, then turn everything back on or plug it back in, afterwards.

Cutting down on a lot of the other stuff going on, with your computer while you're gaming, helps too.

Ok, so these are my rough specs (don't laugh, I'm a pensioner. Or laugh, I laugh tomorrow morning when y'all have to go to school/work  )

AMD Phenom II X6 3.20 GHz

16GB RAM

Radeon R9 Nano

Samsung 500 GB SSD

Atm, I have about 100 (total mods 116, active plugins 104) mods installed, no 4k texture replacers (because they won't fix anything in the game that annoys me) and it takes about 30 seconds to load from desktop to menu screen.
Loading a safe varies a bit, depending where I left. Same goes for loading between interior and exterior cells. None of it takes longer than 40 secs, I have about one crash every 5 hours, mostly when building settlements and I never experienced the "program not responding" (unless you count Oldrim and my tries to get that crappy hires texture dlc to run, see below...)

The first thing I'd get rid of is the crappy 4k texture dlc because those textures are buggy as hell (wrong file lengths and endings and ridiculous oversights like that). If by all means you cannot play without a high res texture pack, chose some that are available on the Nexus.

Weird thing that worked for me - make auto exec file with few lines ( i have fov setting because it refuses to save for some reason, setfog and cl off ).
Since i did it my F4 loads in like several seconds as opposed to 2-3 minutes i had to deal with before that.
