formalrevya
I have been looking for ways to make the game harder.. can you tell me exactly what you do? http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3829 You can also use the DD config menu to change the stats for other enemies. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9494 Doesn't kick in until You've done a good enough job pissing off the main two factions. You can use console commands to make both sides hostile to you. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9694 Large variety of monsters, with special face R@ping abilities. also needed for this http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18997, don't forget to download hardcore esp. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10037 Rebalancing the game. ((More often than not, rebalancing in the favor of your opponents.)) The trick to this one is to not use ASIS with it, so that you're the only one being negatively impacted by the new tweaks. Now set to master difficulty on a new game. Boom, Instant hell on earth.

Deleted472477User
I had Faendal for ages because I like him for some reason :D Then I got Atvir Dres and like him much better. I roleplayed in my mind that Faendal went back to Riverwood to ask Camilla to marry him and my character was chilling in the corner club and was intrigued by the very grouchy looking Dunmer there. Overall, I tend to like companions.
Gremxula
As a stealthy archer myself I can't see the problem with taking your companion/s with you up to the cave crypt etc. entrance and getting the to wait outside. Then when your ar-se gets handed to you on a plate witch it will do often if you go lightly armoured and you use mods like skyre and have the difficulty set high. Then you can bring in the heavy mob to help out. Walking around outside alone is next to impossible in some parts of MY Skyrim with frequent multi attacks on fast travel. For example when I left Skyrim for today I thought I would just fast travel to the next cave and kill the master vampire next time using entering the cave as a convient save point. Yeah so double Warebears and a skeever instantly attack from the ground and double dragons in the sky, dead before I could do anything. My companions took the flack while I RAN AWAY so I could live long enough to get my bow out and poison the arrow. For some companions are required mine are meat shields and pack mules as needed..For my next play through it will be much gentler as Vilja will be my friend and companion. IF she is anything like the Oblivion Vilja it will be a pleasure to be her follower at times. The standard Skyrim followers are like cardboard cut outs in comparison. Obviously I will have to DE-MOD my game with parts of SkyRe all of Monster and Civil Unrest etc. removed.
Kraeten
I don't like vanilla companions either. As a mostly melee fighter it's an unwelcome chore making sure I don't accidentally hit them when they fight close quarters too. I do however very much like what Janus and other Modders have been trying to do, which is introduce smart companions with clever and thoughtful character interaction similar to characters featured in Bioware games. I imagine most people just like the eyecandy though. Edited October 31, 2012 by Kraeten
DashingKnight
I can honestly see and respect the different reasons as to why people would or would not want to use companions. There are both positives and negatives to each. My gripe is when folks complain about Mods when they themselves have never even tried to attempt Mod making. I say don't knock it unless you've tried it. I respect all Mod makers for their time and effort regardless as to whatever they create.
justwannaddl
I prefer keeping dead thralls around myself. I never have to worry about killing them if they are in the way and I can still use them as pack mules. Once you get used to the groaning, they also say the darnedest things every now and then. It is a bit of a pain to make sure the pile of corpses in my houses doesn't despawn though. If only there was a way to permanently store corpses in the game.
