GaStuSage
It seems at least a few of my questions have been answered quickly by fellow users. Thank you, fellow Nexus users. If I get this right, you pretty much get nothing for spending money on a premium membership? That is, outside of the knowledge that your money goes toward supporting this site. Arthmoor
What do you premium white knights have to say for yourselves now? Now even you can't download in peace.Just that you're wrong and that we can "download in peace" just fine because the screen you're whining about doesn't show up for us. Also the only hate filled comments I've seen so far come from yourself and a couple of others who share your self-entitled opinion.
Guest deleted34304850
What do you premium white knights have to say for yourselves now? Now even you can't download in peace. STOP SUPPORTING PRACTICES THAT ARE AGAINST YOU. You're making things worse for yourselves and everyone else. Have you not seen what the GPU market has become? 1000 dollars for a 2080 Ti or buy a cheaper card and risk running out of VRAM with only 8GB. I have read your ignorant and hate-filled comments and guess what? I won't back down. It's not my fault you lack any sense of morals, ethics or principles and quickly fall for the whole "invent a problem then charge for the solution" trap companies lay out for you. If you feel some type of way because some of us don't want to support a monopoly like Nexus then that's a you problem. I won't hold my tongue for no one. If that means facing the banhammer don't expect me beg for mercy or submit and fall in line. I'll die with my dignity intact, how will you "die" exactly?you're not coming across very well here, are you aware of that?
StormWolf01
Nah I get it too. Back when, I remember us hitting the 3 million member mark. 3 MILLION members. I have absolutely NO idea how many members that we have now. But I know that figure has grown EXPONENTIALLY. (YAY for us!!)That's also NOT counting in how many hits the site gets from Google, Yahoo, Bing, FB, and a lot of other sites.Just from the mods that I've downloaded from here, I've got over 10 gigs worth of files. That's JUST from the Fallout 4 mods. Most places WILL not GIVE give you 10 gigs of storage space for free, without making you jump thru all kinds of hoops for it. Or constantly nag you. Or send you spam emails, or sell off your email address.I know that this site uses an enormous amount of bandwidth, and storage capacity. Both of which, are very expensive in the business world. Then there's the folks in the background, who get paid to do everything that those paid service providers don't. There's all the other stuff, in the background that Robin has to take care of, that we don't know anything about. I have always, always defended the nexus. From both sides of the fence. I've always done, what I can to serve the community here. Either to the mod authors, to the players, and especially trying to help our members that are needing support. This site has given me a sense of pride, and something that I can brag about IRL. I believe in the Nexus, I believe in Robin, and the awesome folks that he has working for him, who get a lot of abuse, and very little in the way of reward. I also understand, that there are things that you don't agree with, and sometimes, you just gotta accept it. But this new thing with the downloads, is...IMO...Not good for the site. As a modder here, as a member here, and as a professional in the tech industry, I see this as more harm than good. To the OP- The ban hammer falls from our own actions, our own deeds, and our own posts. Driven by the choices that we, our selves make. IF you are honestly THAT triggered about this, I would give this advice. IF you are so upset that you don't want to be a member here, and don't care about your membership here, there's ways to cancel out your account. That way, when you change your mind, and decide you want back, you can.The path you're on now, with your previous posting history, it's possible you might take that choice away from yourself. I have said this many times, to many members here. Don't let your temper get the better of you, and make mistakes that you Are gonna regret later. starfis
Not sure if this is really effective, at least not effective on me. If I would like to become a premium again in the future, I'll do it because I want to support the Nexus or because the membership has some benefits I need, not because it starts bugging me if I'm not a premium member. I paid in the past because then I could disable my addblock, the speed was little better, and for the short time I could feel like I've helped at least a little to the site I've spent so much time on. I don't really need unlimited download speed, I can wait couple of minutes. It is understandable that Nexus needs to advertise their better premium services, but I think I made my choice, and this is becoming annoying as hell, probably morebecause I'm in the middle of updating all my mods, so I'm going to click that thousand times this weekend, not so much in the usual everyday download of one or two files, but.... Yeah I know I'm using the slow download speed and no I don't need the maximum unlimited hyper mega download for a file which has 3kb thank you very much. Maybe if that choice was available for the files over certain size? Yeah, know that would need some more coding probably, but it would make some people think if they wouldn't use the unlimited speed. Also the only hate filled comments I've seen so far come from yourself and a couple of others who share your self-entitled opinion. So premium membership does get rid of this screen? Sorry if I'm adding to any confusion, I'm simply a cheap bast*rd, lol - really fighting with myself on spending money on this. On one hand I'd like to see this site supported as I use it often at different times of the year. On the other hand... well, I've already made that statement. I guess it would help me if I knew exactly what premium buys you. In the meantime, these are enlightening articles posted by zcul on another thread: Why does Nexus Mods place a speed cap on downloads?Nexus Mods - Expenses - Where does the Money go? Thanks zcul for sharing these. It makes me wonder how much the Nexus takes in from ad revenue; I'm sure it varies throughout the year. I've always assumed they make a lot, through ads and who knows what else, to keep a team of folk busy keeping this site, it's services, the other services it pays for, and it's gear running. Now, I'm wondering if I've been a bit of a dink to assume that, going about my merry way downloading and ad-blocking to my hearts content all of these years. If I could kindly ask someone to explain to this slowing orc what a premium membership entails it may just be the nudge I need to monetarily support the Nexus. Just to clarify - I understand this is what's advertised: https://www.nexusmods.com/register/premium , but there seems to be some folk posting (or maybe I didn't have enough coffee in me earlier while reading their posts) that they still get ads and or this new screen reminder of premium, even after supporting the site - I feel a face-palm on the horizon, I know it. Ah yes, the people who have paid for supporter status to show their support are ALSO self-entitled. Good job proving to them that anything less than premium is worthless and 'inferior' to your almighty premium status. Of course you'd say something like that. That's all most of the premium backers have been doing. God forbid we don't want to be nagged to pay for something, right? We must be entitled. SG013
This change is annoying, stupid and going to sow bad blood for many nexus users. I'm just happy I keep my mod files so I don't have to redownload. Once I perfect my fallout 3 and fallout new vegas mod lists I won't need to come back to the nexus. axonis
I think that my total donations had exceeded the sum required for a permanent membership (when there was such a thing), but I didn't want that. I'd rather experience the nags normal users have to deal with for downloading a small file when every page in this site itself serves them with several megabytes of free images.
