Were non-premium download speeds slowed even further?

I currently can't pay for premium, but I just started using mods again after around a month and the download speeds are SUPER slow compared to a month or two ago. That is not to mention the new way the site annoys me by shoving it into my face that premium has better speeds with every download I make. This also affects my manual downloads too. If it isn't Nexus, then im sorry, but idk what else could be causing such slow download speeds for the mods.

If you'd like to help us work out what's going on, please provide the information mentioned here https://help.nexusmods.com/article/92-im-having-download-issues-what-can-i-do

Hello, the link was helpful, but I still believe it is something on my side of the problem. I have been using ad blockers for months on nexus while getting fairly good speeds, so I assume that it must be something on my end causing this. I have a 1gb internet where I live, but I can't seem to find what is throttling it, but thank you very much for the info. (P.S. I removed my adblocker on nexus after I read it.)

non-premium has never changed

Actually, I remember non-premium having a 1 MB/s limit at one point and now it is 2. I've never seen this limit be decreased however.

only if you are not using an adblocker, which if you are would keep you at 1mb
