Besides, the matter with the Pipes thread wasn't just that it was spam.

It was also thread necromancy. Before it was brought back to life in May 24th,

2004, that thread was officially "dead" since October 5th, 2003.

CHAPTER IV - Thread Necromancy

Thread Necromancy is...

Reviving a dead thread with something that has no relevance to it. Like "hey cool" (See SPAM) or "that was really helpful, thanks". Please notice the date when there was last a post there. If it was more than 2-3 weeks ago, you can guess that this thread is dead, and unless you have something constructive that will continue the discussion to add, don't bother.

There's actually an important lesson in all of this, past spam, past goats and past Daerk's underwear.

A lesson?

It was Dark0ne who ate all the (banana) pies - is that the one?

*runs, but thinks diversionary tactics may be appropriate*

Look, there's a llama over there!

*runs and hides*

Daerk said:

"There is no such thing as Necromancy in the MEMod boards.

-- D "

But also said:

"Welcome to the forums, FireMaster.

Just a note, this thread is "dead" in the sense that no-one has posted in it for over a month, and the post that you wrote doesn't really add anything of worth to the thread's content, so it's what we tend to call "Necromancy". Basically the un-needed reviving of a dead thread due to a post with little to no relevant content."

thanx for the above explanations, i must admit that i did not check the last post date.

but:

okay then, why do modrators or admin lock threads that have been subject to necromancy and spam if bumping them up may attract more attention to them and possibly start something constructive... thanx for the above explanations

The thread was left open for two or three days in which only spam posts were added to it - for me a sufficient reason to lock it. If you like to discuss this further, please do so via other ways of communication (new thread, PM or whatever) - we don't want to interrupt the admin's spam

(wow, this is post no. 1500)
