    • They realized that without a editor this game would stop selling.

I have noticed that "Editor to be Available in December; Downloadable Content coming for January, February, and March." This is a great thing, but really we all new this had to happen Fallout 3 (in my opinion and many others) is too much like Oblivion not enough Fallout. So why now only 2 months after release do they say "oh yea and there is going to be a SDK" how could they not of known that before 2 months ago, it takes more than 2 months to create a decent editor. I am starting to think that maybe Bethesda was originally not going to release it and just do downloadable content because it was a better business model, why pay when you can something better for free. But they probably noticed the thousands of emails and posts about common faults and major screw ups that dot this massive but empty shell of a game. But that is just my opinion post yours.

They used the editor (in some form) to make the game, so the editor existed in unpolished, coder-friendly form for the entire development cycle. It wasn't user-friendly enough at release time, so they made it available later. They'd been discussing the SDK since before the release, they knew it would come out sometime, they just couldn't tell us anything about it.

Give them a little credit, at least.

Nope, productivity is the word of order. But the SF will not release the 'real' SDK. They gives a tool that allows modding their product, not to make an entire game (mainly the engine).

First SDK isn't well choose to name the Editor, and I agree they never had troubles in doing one. jus they, probably, weren't interested in giving it too soon.

PS: But I think too they were pressed t release one earlier they wanted, the modding community was almost done mounting the files structure and even going toward an editor of sorts.

I am soooo excited what this means to the community! I might try my hand at modding this time around, i was such a taker and addict of Oblivions mods, (40+ mods at once). I feel i have to create some thing interesting for us, even a niche market of us. I will look forward to see what the elite modders do with this now. Its insane!

I get the general impression that they were working on it all along, and it just took a moment for them to work out the PR and everything. The "withholding CS to increase DLC sales" rumor is busted; they're releasing the CS before any DLC. Not to mention the DLC they're making sounds awesome. (Thank god they didn't go for dog armor.)

I think Bethesda simply decided to delay the editor so they could get the game out at a better time, perhaps to please their publishers. (Publishers always make ridiculous demands. Destroyed more games than any other contributing factor.) Now that they've explained the situation, it sounds pretty straightforward to me. The delay does seem a little odd, but not so much to be of worry.

Their enthusiasm in releasing the GECK-CS is quite a relief, and has restored my faith in Bethesda. For a moment there they had me worried.

I think it just wasen't done for the release. They gotta do thing's like comment the scripts, debug the whole thing, and make sure it runs on computers that arn't their own. Plus, they also had every single fallout fanboy screaming at them for making a so called "disgrace" of a game, and that they left the game for the modders to "fix" it. (I disagree, but thats not the point of this thread, people blame Beth for everything apparently).

They were going to get pissed no matter what the game was. Their decision that the game was terrible was made long before the game was released. That being said, certainly the GECK-CS will let modders fix it to their liking. The modding community is like a free game-patching team.
