FreddyTheClown
I have had this issue for roughly a month now and I've tried to uninstall and hardwipe Vortex but it does not fix it. I had another forum post awhile back on this issue that kind of fell flat and faded; I'm not really sure if reposts are all right but this issue is just very annoying and I can't seem to figure out a way on how to fix it. This problem occurred when I had my power go out during the middle mod purge and the brief start of an update.I was told it could be damage to my disk or file-system which I have no idea on how to go about fixing and any pointers would be helpful! I'm just really sick of not being able to install mods.
HeyYou
Run system file checker, and checkdisk.... In the search box (windows 10), type in "CMD" (no quotes), in the right column, you will see the option "Run as Administrator", click on that.In the command prompt window, type is "Chkdsk C: /f" (again, no quotes) If will likely ask if you want to dismount the volume, tell it yes. Let it run. When it's done, see if it found any errors. (it should tell you.)When that is finished, type in "sfc /scannow" Go do something else for a little while. :) Yeah, it can take a bit. Let that process finish. If it found errors, but couldn't repair them, run it again, until you don't get any errors. (if you have to run it more than three times, there is a problem.) Once that is all done, reboot the machine. If vortex STILL doesn't wanna work, download Revo Uninstaller Portable. Run that, and uninstall vortex. Keep in mind, this will remove ALL files/registry entries associated with vortex, so, any mods you have installed with vortex, will quite likely be gone. (and you will have to reinstall them.) When revo is finished, restart the machine again. Try installing vortex, and see if it wants to work.
