Deleted75062723User
If Everybody did one NPC, we would have a realistic different voiced world out there. We'd just need to aggregate all the different recordings into one mod. Edited July 11, 2020 by Guest
Akulakha
Agreed. Getting tired of the slutty girl mods that use a vanilla voice getting uploaded all the time. It's not hard to make your own npc so its just so lazy. Make something interesting for once.
Aikospacerogue
Would be kinda neath to have a large part of the game re-voiced to balance it out, get rid of the duplication issue, and in some cases the terrible acting. (chough* the lady summoning Potema *chough) For example I'm just running the Thieves Guild quest again and far to many characters you deal with are voiced by the awesome Stephen Russel.Mercer Frey -thief quest giverCynrick - thief NPC fluff Mallus Macius - thief quest fence Erandur - thief quest translator If you ask me all this duplication basically ruins Russel's fantastic job on Mercer. saurusmaximus
While I agree with the sentiment, the fact is a well-done NPC needs a good voice actor with well-written lines to be convincing, and I don't know how many modders can pull that off. As an example, I've had this very same idea for years, but I can't afford to hire anyone to record dialogue for me, so I thought, 'Hey, I'll just do it myself!'. So I recorded myself just repeating some lines from the game to try it out. Long story short, I sounded terrible, to the point where even I would be annoyed listening to my own dialogue. Not saying it can't be done, just that it isn't for anyone to do.
Apis4
Well, maybe modders and competent voice actors could team up, if there's modders out there willing. I for one have at least three characters I want make, that I've already done rough drafts of, and I've got two years in to a theatre degree before a parent had a stroke and ended that chapter of my life prematurely, as well been awarded an award for acting from my film school when doing my pre diploma (cert IV in pure screen production)...so male voice acting is something I've got covered.... ....BUT I'm not visual artist, especially not with digital media, and don't know a Damn thing about programming or coding. I bet London to a brick, as the Poms say, I'm just one of a great many folk who are in this scenario. Surely there's lots and lots of us. Likewise, I bet there's tons of tech egg heads, who can make the most amazing programes, virtual characters, fantastic meshes and textures, who just don't feel it, or can't find it, when writing, and feel like they've shamed their whole lineage when they hear their voice acting efforts. So how about bringing these people together? Start a thread here, or a FB page, or a Tweety or whatever. People can trade skills, techies help the creative's bring their NPC ideas to life, the artistes help them flesh out and voice there's in exchange. Then along the way they can do over some vanilla NPCs too. Can't be that hard to link people up.
ZeroOaths2
I myself am somewhat new to the realm of modding. I've done simple item mods in the past using Vanilla gear. But a custom voice mod wouldn't be overly difficult and nor would the level of a person's acting skills really be necessary. In all truth most the npc's don't need some hardcore actor. Just need to get rid of the overly repetitive voices that occur and replace them with something fresh. A character whose involvement to the story wouldn't need a premium actor. A amateur could voice them and most people would probably never notice. If I had more experience in the field I personally would love to do some custom follower mods, and Player Homes. Have had an idea for a home for years now just finally got a pc capable of using the creation kit. Edited August 19, 2020 by ZeroOaths2
Deleted75062723User
There are a few mods that have started to do this...one of them did it for generic NPCs. But it named every body generic titles...like Orc Soldier, or Stormcloak. How about giving everybody a realistic name? People have names, ya know... Somebody did a good job on one of the famous NPCs...I think Serana. So there is hope out there that our dream of different voices and more lines is starting to come true. Another non-related mod type, but kind of related...were these expansions of dungeons. Some modder stared doing this...has about 6 or 7 done already. We can't depend on Bethesda ever expanding dungeons...so we might as well do it ourselves! All Bethesda does is make mega-tard dungeons...where you can't get lost ever. Getting lost in dungeons...is one of the greatest feeling I ever got. So...NEVER SAY DIE!

"You should ..." is always much more effective when it follows "I have ...".

You seem spiteful and bitter for some reason for which he was not the cause.
