No Idea whats wrong with vortex, but its broken

Hi, Ive been trying for two days to install popular mods to my Skyrim Se. some mods are added to the list twice, some say the archive is broken even though I just downloaded the mod fresh. No know fixes Desciptor work. There is a list of mod at the bottom that say never installed, yet are installed up higher on the list, mods are in file conflict with them selves. Game crashes instantly on load up. I have deleted vortex, Skyrim SE, and all mods and try reinstalling only to get the same issues. Fill changes being made out side of vortex when I havent done that. Installing parts of the Modd I didnt selectNo idea what to do please help.

How are your Mod Staging Folder and Download Folder set up?

Usually mods appearing twice means you have the folders nested inside folders


Mod staging should be like this

Example:

D:\Mod Staging\skyrimse
D:\Mod Staging\fallout3

D:\Mod Staging\fallout4

 

etc.


DO NOT do this

D:\Mod Staging\skyrimse\mods

 

Because then you can end up with something like this

 

D:\Mod Staging\skyrimse\mods\skyrimse\fallout3 etc etc

 

Also, keep your Download Folder separate from your Mod folder

Example

D:\Vortex Downloads\skyrimse

Don't do this

D:\Mods Staging\Downloads

Don't put the Mod staging Folder in the same folder with the Download folder.

Also, do you use Windows Defender, if so, turn off "Controlled Folder Access" and turn off your AntiVirus and reinstall Vortex right over the top of your old install, your AV might be messing up parts of the install
