Pickysaurus
Vortex doesn't do that to itself. This can usually be fixed by downloading a fresh copy of Vortex and installing it over the top of the one you have. It's caused either by a bad download of the update file (rare) or your anti-virus software sabotaging the update process (90% of cases).

Don't really appreciate the tone of your sentiment but I understand having to deal with people all day can likely be taxing. this Post helped me https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/9272943-vortex-wont-open-start-up/I downgraded my version from (1.3.13) to (1.2.19) It wasnt the antivirus , so it was likely a corruption ... tho the fact Im not the only one experiencing it may mean that I am not a nincompoop. I always use vortex and it never has done this to me in the past but It became completely unusable after that update , hopefully it didn't corrupt my mods. There's a few libraries included in the Vortex package by other creators where Antivirus will flag them, and block the installation of random files, which can cause a problem.Don't know what your problem with Picky was, he was just trying to help, and wasn't accusing you of anything AN antivirus blocking just a few files from being installed can CAUSE the corruption. We've seen it happen in here plenty of times, and he's right, it's usually the case around 90% of the time. Don't forget, the libraries that Vortex uses, are written by other people, and they get updated too, so, if your AV didn't prevent something from installing on earlier versions, it could've prevented something from installing on a newer version of the library due to a code change that the AV now thinks is suspicious. This issue comes up a LOT in here.
mitchpotter
My UI is frozen after taking the latest update right from Vortex. Solution was, as Picky said, just to download and install manually. AV history showed no problems so maybe it was the patch code and not on my end to begin with. At any rate it's a quick fix for anyone else who may have issues.
