I have been attempting basic modding for two days with no luck, desperate for some help

So I have been trying to set up Skyrim SE Script extender with no luck. Found myself stuck on the details between steps on the written guide provided by Vortex, so I watched a recent video tutorial and improperly installed Skyrim script extender. I tried uninstalling but the files don't look quite like I remember them being before the download and I cannot start up Skyrim through any launcher. I've invested a good 10 hours now but I have no idea how to get out of this mess, I am hoping I can still get this working. Every tutorial I find is either outdated, set up differently to mine so I cannot duplicate, or they just gloss over the parts that I am struggling with.

If someone else who uses Vortex would be kind enough to give me feedback on what I can do, I would appreciate it. As of now I cannot even launch or play the vanilla game.

I believe now all you have to do is drag it into vortex and hit install.
The guides I believe are outdated, and worded in such a way that's confusing to newbies.


Then, there's also the manual installation guide included inside the SKSE64 zip file, which is what I do, because it's quick and painless

[ Installation ]

1. Copy the .dll and .exe files to your Skyrim SE directory. This is usually in your Program Files folder under Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\. If you see files named SkyrimSE and SkyrimSELauncher, this is the correct folder. Do not copy these files to the Data folder as with a normal mod. The "src" folder is only useful for programmers, most users can ignore it.

2. Copy the .pex files in Data\Scripts\ into the Data\Scripts\ folder of your installation. The .pex files are needed by all users of SKSE.
