Uninstall Vortex but preserving the modded game

Hi! I've used Vortex for a long time, and I've always been happy with it. It's not a decision to take now, but I'm thinking to uninstall Vortex since I am fully satisfied with my massive modded games (mainly Oblivion and Skyrim), and, moreover, I'm running out of space.

My question is simple: does uninstalling Vortex and related data (the leftovers will be up to me to remove, eventually) affect in any way the game folder and its modded files?
I think mainly at the "Data" folder in Skyrim and Oblivion.

In other words, does uninstalling Vortex also remove the mods managed by it in the game folder, keeping my game as it is?

I fear that, due to the symlink feature, some mods files are actually not in the the game folder, but in the Vortex Mods folder. Can anyone give me a clear answer, please?

Currently, removing Vortex will leave your mods, downloads and Vortex configuration intact. This is so you can start exactly where you left off if you install it again.

Before deleting Vortex you might want to consider either moving or deleting your downloaded archives. You can move them in Settings -> Downloads -> Download folder or simply delete them. This will free up a fair amount of space, but means you will have to redownload any mod you want to reinstall.

Unlike NMM, your mods do not exist in the game directory.

The only copy is in the mod staging folder. This is true for sym links and hard links.

If you remove the mod staging directory - your active mods are gone.

A possible, untested workaround would be to move your game directory. Windows will replace those hard links with the actual data.

It is HIGHLY recommended to Purge your mods before removing Vortex. That cleans up your game directory so you can reinstall your mods from those archived downloads.

Thank you for your answers, I think I'll keep Vortex for awhile, but eventually I'll try to "merge" the staged folder with the game folder (previous backup, obviously). At least I've understood that the mods managed by vortex aren't actually in the game folder. That's what I was interested to know for now. Thanks!

WHY would you want to remove vortex, and then manually put the staging folder in the Game\Data folder?

Once you do that, you will NOT be able to uninstall the mods with Vortex if you want to try new mods

I hope you aren't thinking that Vortex is using TWICE the Harddrive Space, because it's not, it's using Hardlinks, so you wouldn't be saving any space by uninstalling it, and manually moving your mod staging folder to the Game\Data folder

Moving the Mod Staging folder to the game\data folder is going to end up being one huge mess, because every single mod gets extracted to it's own separate Folder, so you can't just copy the folder over.
