Pickysaurus
Which one do you personally like best? Vortex or MO2? That's a bit of a Coke vs Pepsi kind of debate. As you're in the Vortex support forum it's likely everyone here would say Vortex. Based on our latest figures Vortex is used by about ~70% of users with mod managers. Dantheman1713
interesting lol. I forgot I put this in the Vortex forum. I do like both of them and I can only actually start the game from Vortex and not from MO2 for some reason. When I'm using MO2 I just launch New Vegas from the desktop shortcut and that seems to work. Do you have any idea why i can only get a few mods to work in the game and not any big landscape type mods? All say they are installed and checked but I don't know. rmm200
Note: You need to starts your games from MO 2 if using MO 2.Vortex does not need to be running to start your game if using Vortex to manage your mods. You can just launch it from the game directory. Frees up more storage - and that can matter for smaller systems.Just one of the big advantages with Vortex. Dantheman1713
Appreciate it rmm200. Does that mean if I'm using Vortex only, I can use the desktop shortcut to run New Vegas and the mods should be working? I'm still torn between them but Vortex so far seems to be better. rmm200
Yes. Desktop shortcuts are a fine way to launch. Just make sure you are pointing to nvse_loader.exe if you use nvse. The hard links Vortex installs are a Windows feature, and persist even when Vortex is not running.MO 2 uses a Virtual File System (Tannin's own), and while great, it does mean MO 2 has to be running when the game is. Dantheman1713
Thanks for the help/ Quick question though...Does that mean if I want to keep using MO2 instead of Vortex to run mods, will the mods still work through MO2 if I just have the browser open or do i still have to launch/run the game from MO2? i can't get it to work for some reason though there but can leave it open and just use the desktop shortcut? rmm200
I am going to have to punt to a current MO 2 user on that one. I have not used MO 2 - well since Vortex came out....

Since MO2 uses a Virtual File System, (Files don't go in your data folder), you MUST run your Game from MO2, otherwise the VFS will not work and you'll be running an unmodded version of your game.
