How to install a previous version of Vortex

First, I did look and did not see this topic anywhere else.

I tried the newer version (Vortex-1-1-3-22-1610449420) and didn't like it so I uninstalled it and attempted to install the previous version that I did like (Vortex-1-0-16-12-1541496166). For some reason this did not work. A warning pops up saying I'm attempting to 'downgrade' and the install fails.
Has anyone else had this problem? I suppose there remains some record of it but I'm not poking around in windows registry. Last time I did that I had to reinstall windows.
This is very annoying and I can't fathom why it can't just be simply uninstalled. What am I missing here?

it is advised NOT to go back to an older version of vortex unless specifically told to do so. You can and will corrupt your Vortex set up.

So don't do it.

What exactly is your reasoning for trying to install an incredibly out and out of date version?

Like I said, I don't like the new version. I don't understand why you want more than that. I like to install my mods with the drag and drop, this new version likes to rename them for some reason. The old one never did that.

I don't really care if you get it or not, obviously you didn't answer this to help, you just wanted to criticize. You could have just kept scrolling.

So I guess I'm stuck with it huh?

that's a truly bizzarre response to someone trying to help you.

you can just uninstall it from your system and re-install the old one and wreck your set up. it's pretty easy to do. the advice remains, don't do it.

It just seems a little illogical to use a version of Vortex from 5 Nov 2018 (0.16.12). That was before we even declared Vortex out of beta.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the new version renames the file"? Although if I'd have to guess you dislike that Vortex finds the proper mod title from Nexus Mods when installing manually? The only workaround I can think of is for you to shut off your network connection during the install in the new versions.

Ultimately, you can do what you choose, but we cannot offer support for a version that is over 2 years behind the current release and we strongly recommend using the latest version with all the security and functionality updates that it offers.

Trying to help? Where do you see that?

I didn't see any advice from him or you. Both of you are just looking down you nose and only asking "What cha wanna do that fer?"

I. Don't. Like. The. New. Vortex.

I really should have knew better than to ask a damn question on here. Everybody who 'helps' you talks to you like they think you're an idiot. Usually if I don't find the solution to some problem via google I just ditch the idea. Because I see how people react to nebies asking questions. I never do that in the things I'm good at.

So you know what I can do? I can build a damn house from the ground up. I can paint your mother's picture with oil. I can create a D&D style role playing game that my friends like to play more than D&D. And I have a book almost ready to publish. Maybe you can top that, maybe not. I just mention it because I am not an idiot so don't talk to me like one.

What I am a rank armature at is modding Skyrim but I love the **** out of trying to learn.

It's not 'wrecking my setup". I uninstalled all my mods first with the intention of starting a new playthrough with a mage. The new Vortex does some weird crap such as not taking you to the Data folder in the game. It takes you to the staging folder. When I edit something in TES5Edit, it takes another step to get there to copy the esp to my collection of altered mods. Other than that I don't see a lot of difference in the versions.

I don't suffer fools either.

It did when I dropped two altered mods to install them. I don't know why it did that and that's is part of the reason I'm on here. I can't duplicate it either. Now it seems to work right.

Man, I am not asking you to support a version that is over 2 years old. I know better than to expect that. It does other stuff that I don't really like. If I alter a mod in TES5Edit and try to get to it through Vortex, 'Open in file manager' does not take you to it in the Data folder. It takes you to a staging folder. So... I have to go all the way around just to find it, copy and paste it to my collection of mods. Yeah, that's pretty much it. Frankly, I don't see anything else the newer version does that benefits me.

All I wanted to know was how to uninstall it an continue using the older version simply because it's what I'm used to. Is that so weird?

I uninstalled it but now my PC will not let me install the older version because somewhere is some record that the newer version has been already installed. After talking to you and considering your particular avoidance of the question I realize this feature is deliberate. Now I really don't have any idea of the why's of that argument but that is the only thing that makes sense. Vortex leaves some record of itself so the older version cannot be reinstalled. To me that's illogical but then again, I'm sure someone somewhere has a reason to make sure no one can ever revert to the older version.

Everyone always trying to control everyone else.

Stop with the conspiracy theories, all you need to do is delete the C:\users\YOUR NAME\Appdata\roaming\VORTEX folder

You know, where Windows Stores EVERYTHING ELSE like Settings, Program Info, Program Settings etc...

My replies to your nonsense inside;

that's a truly bizzarre response to someone trying to help you.

In Picky's post. It's very clear if you can read basic English.

I didn't see any advice from him or you. Both of you are just looking down you nose and only asking "What cha wanna do that fer?"

That's because you either can't read, or didn't like the options available to you. Either way, both are on you. Don't like the advice, move on with your life.

I. Don't. Like. The. New. Vortex.

Good for you.

You've been given the answer. Uninstall it. If you don't know how to uninstall a program I am certain that you can find a "how to" on Google.

So you know what I can do? I can build a damn house from the ground up. I can paint your mother's picture with oil. I can create a D&D style role playing game that my friends like to play more than D&D. And I have a book almost ready to publish. Maybe you can top that, maybe not. Uninstall it, re-install your version move on with your life and stop projecting your own insecurities on posters in this forum.

I don't suffer fools either.

Must be hard to live with yourself then, eh?

Hope you find some peace in your life soon. Good luck.
