i worked with vortex a lot in the past but i just cant remember and ABSOLUTELY no one in any guide EVER talk about it. and neither the FAQs do.

So can someone actually tell me WHEN and WHY to use the deploy button and not just simply enable?
WHEN and WHY is enable not enough?

thanks guys

To add just a bit of background,

Enable is just a flag that says what mods you want to Deploy. It has no direct effect on your game directory.

Deploy takes all those Enabled mods and makes them active in your game directory. Usually this is by installing a Windows hard link in the game directory for each mod, pointing back to that mod in the Vortex Mod Staging Directory.

Unlike NMM - mods are never copied into your game directory.

thanks a lot eventhough i know what deployment does

i just couldnt figure out why no guide ever mentions that, they simply never tell you to deploy. only to enable.
and they dont tell you to set auto deploy when enable. is that set by default?

otherwise i couldnt imagine why its never mentioned.

but either way this makes me feel like every guide even the "good one" like gopher basically explain it false?!

ah ok i just found a description.

but am i correct that autop deploy is bascially useless if i edit at least one ini file after installing the mod because that alone makes me have to hit deploy anyway?

WHy would you have to RE-DEPLOY an ESP or ESM if you manually edit an INI file

They are unrelated

Re-deploying would just overwrite the changes you made to the ini file, if it's one that gets installed in the Data directory.

because someone in a guide said like if i have a mod like engine fixes and i edit the ini of it after installing then i need to redeplay to update the hardlink.

but as far as i understand that would deploy all my mods anyway.
