Zanderat
Coming from Skyrim SE modding, I have noticed one big difference. Most textures for FO4 are packed in BA2 files whereas in SSE, most are loose files. I understand that BA2 would load quicker. But I lose the granularity of choosing which individual files I want to override others without setting a LOOT rule and that seems to cause the whole BA2 to override the other. In other words, I want to use some files from one mod and some from another at the same time. In SSE, I don't feel loose files made much noticeable difference in load times or fps and allowed easy customization and mixing and matching. Does it really matter that at much for FO4 if I extract the files?
HeyYou
You can likely get a way with it, and not notice much, if any, difference. Using load accelerator helps to.
Gruffydd
Extract away. I've got a mod that has hundreds of loose files in it (per request ages ago from people who wanted to be able to pick and choose which parts they used), and it works fine.
